The Great Push - New Mythic+ Tournament

The Great Push - New Mythic+ Tournament

We’re thrilled to announce details on our first competitive dungeon one-off tournament of the year. Welcome to The Great Push, coming May 28-30!

For over fourteen years, we’ve sought to explore new ways to push the limits of competitive World of Warcraft. With The Great Push, our first one-off tournament of the year, we are bringing a new style of competitive dungeon running distinct from the foundations set by the Mythic Dungeon International (MDI). Instead of teams fighting to beat their opponent’s time, The Great Push is focused on teams pushing keys as high as they can, striving to out survive their competitors and be crowned the champion!

    How The Great Push Works

    • The Great Push stands separate from the MDI. Any team of five players can register for their shot at the $20,000 (USD) prize pool!
    • Teams will compete in the initial qualifier phase, the Proving Grounds, on May 22-23, where teams will be given two dungeon keystone combinations to push to the highest difficulty they can reach on the tournament realm.
    • The top six teams from the qualifier will be invited to the main tournament, where they will compete across the different Shadowlands Dungeons to push their keystones as high as possible.
    • The winning team will be the one who has the highest overall score for dungeons pushed and will be crowned the champion.
    • There are no pre-requisites required to play in the tournament, teams can sign up for The Great Push through May 17!

The tournament will be broadcast live on YouTube and Twitch, and players will also be able to stream their perspectives during the tournament, including their time in the Proving Grounds. You can choose to follow your favorite team and players, while keeping up with the casters for the overall standings throughout the weekend.

    Looking Forward

Meanwhile, be sure to tune in to the MDI Global Finals where teams will battle for $300,000 USD on April 23-25, only on YouTube. With Season 1 featuring some of the hardest-fought dungeon runs imaginable, including the closest dungeon finish in MDI history, 2021 is gearing up to be the Mythic Dungeon International’s best year ever. Please stop trying to make this game into a competition.

Fun for those who participate, but for the rest it creates silly meta playstyles enforced on people which make no sense for people below 20+ keys.

Not sure what is the bigger joke, the tournament or the prize pool

Players: MDI sucks. Make a better tournament!

    ::Blizzard tries a new tournament::

The same fucking players: What the fuck, Blizzard. Stop trying new things!

cant wait to see method black vs method blue vs method orange vs Method rainbow... zZZzzZZZZzZZZZzzzzzzZZZzzz

All the people/players have left is asmongold at this point to appeal to your average joe.

also 20k is the total prize pool... actual first place is probably 10k then split 5 ways...

What is the problem with the prize pool?

yay more boring crap that nobody cares about

they could for example have spend time on making new challenge modes but instead they make this that 1% of the playerbase will do

    (:

Not everybody who plays WoW is a hopeless cynic who doesn't care nearly as much about Blizzard trying new shit as they do about receiving meaningless platitudes from internet strangers for sharing the super unique opinion that everything they do is wrong.

That's nice of you to assume something is a failure before it even fucking happens. Absolutely no bias at all, right?

I'm glad they're trying something new.

Hard to say how fun it will be to watch pushing instead of speed - my personal tentative opinion is it'll be MORE fun than the MDI. A lot more will go wrong, and as a result, the race will be hopefully closer than the whole "welp they wiped once 5 minutes in guess the match is over" problem the MDI suffers from. Verdict's out, of course, but I remain optimistic.

Blizzard and turning something that is casual/not really competitive into something that is forced into being competitive, only to have it constantly fail. name a more iconic duo

Exactly, it makes no sense below 20, so why the hell use it? I mean surely, if MOST people despised it MOST people wouldn't use it right?! Because they are a majority! It's not like they would get shot for treason in a game.

Also, wild idea, it's not MDI who forces people into meta. It's balance issues. If you think that Classic Meta slavery is caused by some MDI stuff, oh boy.

P.S. Meta comps from MDI are from doing 18s, so if it doesn't make sense to use it below 20 - you better tell those guys, I don't think they know!

M+ above 15 is not casual in the same way as mythic raids are not casual.
M+ is the best thing added to wow ever, it gives people something hard to do of their raid hours, makes dungeons viable again and you can do it in a tight group of friends or complete pug.

Imagine someone so stupid they think it's actual game developers, coders, who are organizing those events.

    LOL, BURN!

I am actually quite happy that Blizz is giving some PvE love in events. Since it's usually PvP that gets the limelight. Just sad it brings out the QQers.
