More e-sports crap for an MMORPG.
Thanks, I hate it.
Thank fuck I unsubbed to the WoW channel on Youtube after they spammed my feed with both the MDI and Arena garbage, this sounds worse.
Its a hard pass for me, no fucking thank you.
just dont click any wow-related videos or youtube's algorhythym is gonna shove those Great push videos right back in dat ass.

a massive out of players are already pushed out based on the fact that a +26 timed video exist on youtube. ZZzZZZZzZZZZ and your average/above-average player is still doing +15~20 for their KSMs
an interesting aspect would be if all players were placed "solo" as in...(by themselves with no team) into random pools of other players. Then we can call it "The Great Carry" competition which would honestly... be possibly entertaining maybe and show off the struggles of what your average player deals with in pugs on a daily basis... oh and invite WoWvendor.com and Wowcarries

Blizzard has been the laughing stock of the eSports scene for quite a while, as they've fumbled and failed to make a platform and keep the platform. It's no doubt the pandemic has negatively impacted their efforts, but very clearly, they have been failing even before that.
You remember what happened between them, DOTA and Steam? They sure did, and tried to do something about it and now look at them. HOTS is on cruise control much like how Overwatch is. Hearthstone is their only PvP project that receives constant updates and attention, but it's telltale how well that's going over for the HS department since most of that attention goes straight to monetization.
But since you want to get philosophical about it.. Cynicism is the incorrect projection here. What you're looking for is pessimism if you are trying to call me apathetic, "boring" and negative. And what's wrong with being "banal" about this? Are you saying I'm in the majority here on this discussion? I see Blizzard's attempts for what they are; futile. You're the one over here flipping the hell out over a supposed "disinteresting" (correction: uninteresting) opinion.
See? Emotional. Now, you're way up there while I'm down here. Let's meet in the middle.

No, I'm saying that money can be put to better things. Things that don't make them the laughing stock of an entire niche community.

having a great day making ppl passive aggressive from simply comments

how do viewer numbers help the actually competitors benefit?

now HERES your passive aggressive crybaby right here. found em. seems pretty passive aggressive behind the power of a keyboard if you ask me ya'll
It takes an impressive amount of cognitive dissonance to say that you're not being cynical after providing a textbook example of cynicism. This has nothing to do with philosophy or emotions or any other random whataboutisms I'm sure you'll materialize out of thin air. Your take sucks and there is verifiable evidence that reality is contrary to your beliefs.
Sponsorship. It might not be that common with WoW but other e-sports have team sponsors that clearly rely on some sort of viewer number. The same as in racing where sponsors can pay for logo/name on the car when most people won't see it while it is going 100+ miles an hour. The more popular something is the more money is made from advertisements, partnerships, endorsements etc. While that might not benefit the individual team or player it usually means that compensation increases.
These are all things that not specific to WoW though since WoW e-sports are relatively basic.
"Man is his own star. His acts are his angels, good or ill, While his fatal shadows walk silently beside him."-Rhyme of the Primeval Paradine AFC 54
You know a community is bad when moderators lock a thread because "...this isnt the place to talk about it either seeing as it will get trolled..."
You've no idea what you're talking about and it's funny lol
cyn·i·cism
/ˈsinəˌsizəm/
noun
1.
an inclination to believe that people are motivated purely by self-interest; skepticism.
What you're looking for is this;
pes·si·mism
/ˈpesəˌmizəm/
noun
a tendency to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen; a lack of hope or confidence in the future.
"the dispute cast an air of deep pessimism over the future of the peace talks"
You're speaking to somebody who knows philosophy. Sorry bro, an encyclopedia ain't gonna give you an upper hand when you don't know how to use the words.
Look man, what Blizz is doing is a waste of their time, talent and money. Whether you like it or not.

this is last chance for gaining more viewer on youtube, but it wont work aswell and i hope i see wow esport shutdown announcement soon
.
If you take out the definitions, which you definitely grazed over, it's only 2 small paragraphs.
And I have gotten real lol. I've been speaking to you factually, where you have been speaking to me emotionally.
But anyways, to keep things on topic, I do believe if Blizzard really truly wants to get into the eSports scene for WoW, they're going to have to move on back to PvP. But they've been dead set on keeping PvP as a mini game for the longest time now. Fuck, even battle pets gets more than PvP does lol.
Sadly, Blizz is going to have to ditch their dreams of being big in eSports if they know what's good for the health of their company. Or they can make another fad game like HOTS 5 years late and suffer, again. Really surprised they haven't done a Battle Royale yet. Then again, that will probably come out in 2 more years lol
It would be for the best if they shut it down. I really hope they move on to making games people care about. No more of this lootbox fest with fake, half scripted eSports events used as adverts for said lootbox slot machines. Enough of trying to make a small, niche endgame mode bigger than it really is. Nobody watches this stuff.

Absolutely. eSports do nothing good to communities. People don't even watch them FFS, they just look at the stats and strats so they can be spazzy in-game and force it on everybody.
Just because there is a price pool, does not mean that you need to be able to make a living off of it.

Can you stop changing the goalpost. I was talking about m+ vs raidboss. Never m+ vs raid.

Do you think that price pools are a charity?
