How much does a 60 dollar game actually cost in the US?

People talk about 60 dollar games, but one thing about the US is that each state has its own tax bracket, so prices are shown pre-tax.

For the Americans here, how much do you actually pay for a 60 dollar game in your state? Is it more like 65-68?

Unlike here in most countries in Europe, prices are shown before taxes in the US because each state has different taxes.

naw we dumb here. Sales tax is state/local based. Here we have 6% state and 2% local. and prices are shown before taxes. Some place have junk food taxes aswell as high as 14%.

Nordic countries have notoriously high tax rates compared to North America. We don't really have super duper crazy taxes on anything but gas (and some tiers of income).

A 25% sales tax? That is literally theft. People keep talking about how great Scandinavian countries are, yet they pay 25% sales tax on video games? Lol.

25% tax is no more theft than 6% tax.

It's not a tax on video games it's a flat "sales tax" applied to literally everything you purchase from anywhere within the area. Only exception is unprocessed food items (things that haven't been handled and turned into a "meal" or something, like produce and raw meats from the deli).

In America (and sadly Canada..) products show their price, and then when you got it buy the items, suddenly they add the tax after. So it's a bit of a "surprise!" It's annoying, a lot of shops here used to have tax already added on the price of things, but tourists would complain about high prices compared to other places! Without understanding the tax was already calculated.
So they dropped it... Yeah it blows.

Was going to ask what year this was and then I saw it "combined state and average local". Which I'm surprise it's 8.66% in CA, but I guess it is a lot higher in places like San Francisco. I live in one of the towns that should be a city and it's only 7.895%

Goddamn socialists. Just get born rich, dude. If you are too poor to pay a 200.000$ collage fee as an 18 year old kid then you have probably done something wrong.

yeah and some of those countries have free healthcare, free education, free transportation, payed leave time, good retirement plans, parental payed time off even for fathers etc etc

its funny how much you can get done with just a tiny extra tax,and wile not spending on the military more than the rest of the world combined.

and these countries are TINY,and they produce much less than usa,i cant even begin to imagine what the usa could do if they cut down on military and police spending even by a fraction....fun fact, usa spends on POLICE more than any of the countries under the next 4 or so do on their military, and for some miracle those places dont even have mass shooting somehow....
