It deserved to live just as much as Garrisons.

It definitely could have been designed to be evergreen content, but the same could be said for Garrisons, and those are arguably even more worthy of life.

The biggest problem with Class halls beyond it mostly having Legion content in it is that it is far too heavily tied to Legion zones. There are only two class halls that are available from a location other than the Broken Isles. The Mage one could be given a pass since it is a fitting area that is easily available with the Mage teleport, but beyond that even class halls that were lucky enough to be in the actual overworld are all based on the Broken Isles, most of them are instanced areas only available from Broken Isles Dalaran.

So in short, if Class halls were designed to last forever then they failed at the first hurdle. Only 3 classes have it available in a way that doesnt require going to Dalaran, and only Druids actually got utility from it that was useful beyond Legion itself.

It didn't, it focused on specs and against classes, it rather strongly contributed in favor of destroying them... who'd know how tired I'm of explaining these simple and uncomplicated design elements.

The very idea of Class Halls isn't bad if we abstract from absolutely inappropriate implementation proposed by devs, but it should be/look radically different. Their organization, degree of involvement and aesthetic component - all of this, both together and separately, clearly emphasizes contradictions, attempt to tear apart, limit, impose inappropriate details, draw precise boundaries where they shouldn't be. In short, what they "rolled out" as result is just parody, posturing, cheap fake, which is result of unwillingness to perceive game as solid whole: lore, all available content and mechanics. Their approach was something like this: cut off everything, then shove in every bit of stuff that has been developed completely and without looking back, and what after us is not our problem. This is completely as unprofessional as it sounds.

Potentially they had 4 more or less naturally formed Class Halls (before insertion Legion's damaging "content and lore" ) Moonglade, Acherus, Peak of Serenity and Ravenholdt. Last one, unfortunately, is knotted by number of unsuccessful quest chains that interfered with such implementation and zone itself is quite modest in size (however, mountain could compensate lack of space, if you know what I mean). Something like that *pointing up* could work, but not the way they did it.

Class' representatives doesn't have to get there at initial levels, basic training is provided by any specialists/trainers in relevant closest settlements... but following own path will sooner or later get there, with passing in from time to time visiting it again and again in connection with current actual situation. That's all and no unnaturally/contrived epic pathos muddles are needed.

To be fair, most of the class order hall portals could easily be moved to a new location.
Like the shaman one is in the Maelstrom, their portal to this place could be moved anywhere.
The only ones completely tied to Broken Isles is the druid, mage, rogue and hunter(and technically warrior I guess) ones. Everyone else could have portals to theirs from anywhere and that doesn't stop the others from having new portals made either.

DKs had to runeforge in the same runeforge in the same floating building since Wrath (well, there is also a spot in Icecrown, but no ones flying there to runeforge). I would hardly consider that a point.

The class halls are the same design as borrowed power and abilities. Blizzard designs everything to be one time throw away content. They have a massive amount of content that does and means nothing once the expansion is over.

Order hall was great, but it was a lie.
The person that greeted you the second you zone into dalaran is a con artist. You are not some special paladin that deserves lead your own order.
That dude say the same thing to every paladin that step through the portal, and all the NPC in your order hall are just some disneyland them park actors!

    And you know it.

BFA already dispel this illusion, Sylvanna broke her 4th wall and tell you "YOU ARE NOTHING". And how can you disagree with her?

I definitely think that Blizzard should have given every class a class hall teleport that works like the DK one, but beyond that the biggest problem is that they were not designed to be evergreen content, and if that is all the argument rests on then I would say that Garrisons is what should have been designed that way instead.

Would be a good way to integrate more class customizations instead of just adding more mediocre glyphs. I do miss my class hall. Though for my DK the bone people have their own runeforge, which is nice.

Amazing class specific weapon mogs, still the only source for the class mounts, I'm all for adding a little something extra there once in a while like the green fire questline for warlocks.
