Gaetz will just claim it was a honey trapping operation by the Dems and that he is TEH victim.
But soon after Mr Xi secured a third term, Apple released a new version of the feature in China, limiting its scope. Now Chinese users of iPhones and other Apple devices are restricted to a 10-minute window when receiving files from people who are not listed as a contact. After 10 minutes, users can only receive files from contacts.
Apple did not explain why the update was first introduced in China, but over the years, the tech giant has been criticised for appeasing Beijing.

The problem is he's already categorically and specifically denied it. Oh he could still do it, but we all know how it looks when someone changes from "I never committed the crime" to "Okay I did commit the crime, but you have to understand--"

Oh, and based on the amount of evidence against Greenberg and his plea deal, which includes testimony against "others" Gaetz would be a fool to change his story until Greenberg testifies under oath.

I do agree that he'll turn himself into the victim, but if he wants any chance to escape this, he has to be a lot more careful.

I wonder if any of those prostitution charges are going to fall into the grey spot between illegal prostitution vs legal "escort" work. Or is that just a myth they talk about on tv? The whole "Oh we were just paying them for their time, they had sex with me because they wanted to". Isn't that the whole reason sites like SeekingArrangement.com can stay up while straight up prostitution sites get shut down?

that is only but one of the hookers in question, I believe. I just don't think his defense of "I didn't do anything wrong" is something that is going to work in the long run.

It might “only be one of them” but that’s a pretty damning crime, removed of any of the other “less illegal” prostitution charges.

It’s like saying “sure I beat up a lot of people for no reason, but only one of them died!”

Well, yeah ... but his defense has to come up with SOMETHING. It seems to me that the "we only paid for their time" defense is the only place they can go. They may use that to try to argue it was only "underage sex" not "underage prostitution". When traveling cross state lines, I don't know if that distinction would help them much though.

Neither do I. And I'll be honest, I wasn't bothering to count how many whores he paid for sex, since anything over "zero" is a crime, so this is new info due to my own lack of due dilligence.

Transporting someone underage across state lines for sex is a felony regardless of whether they're paid or not. It's a trafficking charge, not a prostitution charge.

ah, good to know. I guess that only leaves him with "I swear I thought she was 18!" defense. Good luck with that!

hell its a felony even if you are not having sex to transport a minor across state lines if you are not given permission by their parents or guardians.

Either way, the problems are related to the transport and the sex. Whether or not he paid them for it is really kind of beside the point.

We have a new name. Joe Ellicott.

Ellicott is a long-time friend and colleague of Greenberg. They worked together at the tax collector's office -- Greenberg hired him for nearly $100,000 a year despite Ellicott having zero experience in that arena. Greenberg hosted a sports podcast and "Big Joe" Ellicott would appear as a guest host1. Ellicott was one of Greenberg's groomsmen which incidentally was in 2016 so, yes, the actual wedding invitation just got subpoena'd. These two are close.

"Okay, but just because two carbon-based life forms exist in proximity to each other doesn't prove anything."

    No...but three things.

    One:

As scandals engulfed Greenberg, Ellicott was accused of sexually harassing a woman who worked in the Seminole County tax collecting office. The woman sent the office a letter on Aug. 28, 2019, threatening to sue over the alleged harassment that listed a host of inappropriate comments Ellicott allegedly made to her, including “how much he wants sex from young women,” and “how he uses women sexually when they are in desperate situations such as a young student or a single mom,” according to a copy of the letter.
    "Oh shit."

Yeah. I could stop there. But there's more.

Two, there's a fourth name now involved, and truly a shocker: Harry Shearer, the voice actor of Rev. Lovejoy, Mr. Burns and Smithers, and...

    (checks notes)

Sorry, that's Halsey Beshears, a former state House member with Gaetz. He was also the Florida Secretary of Something Business Something until, yep, the investigation started and he fled from his office, "due to health reasons", Jan 15th of this year. Hmm. I'm sure that's a coincidence.

The subpoena obtained by Politico asks for communication the four had with each other, including planning for the trip and pictures taken during. Oh, right Beshears was on the Bahamas trip. I probably should have said that earlier. Also it's a lot less of a coincidence that four politicians working together all get called out, as opposed to three plus a famous animated voice actor who they've likely never met.

One person is a lone wolf coincidence. Two people acting together? Could be a Bonnie and Clyde. Doesn't prove much. But when there's now four people involved, looking to me like Greenberg brought in Ellicott and Gaetz brought in Beshears, it's a lot less "a few bad apples" and more "compost heap".

    *ahem*

    But I said three things, didn't I?

Let's go back to the dangling plot threads from earlier in this post. Based on the timeline, I'm 94.5612% confident that Greenberg turned in Ellicott.

Who was one of his groomsmen.

Call it what you will, "he had no choice if he wanted to save his own hide" or "level of betrayal usually reserved for Desperate Housewives" Greenberg ratted out his own wingman. The guy he rescued from living with his mother (oh right, Ellicott was living with his mother when Greenberg hired him) with a cushy govt job and had been close friends with for years, and quite possibly took on the Bahama child-fucking sex-trafficking vacation, and Greenberg sold him out to the cops.

If Greenberg will do that to his own best buddy, what chance does Gaetz have?

1 Politico also reports that Greenberg got hundreds of thousands of federal COVID relief funds for it. And yes, that's fraud. It's a smaller story that probably got missed, more information here. I know when I saw "wire fraud" on the charges I thought it was all Venmo-related overseas shit. I had no idea Greenberg would, in addition to bringing a child across borders for the explicit purpose of he and his friends taking turns raping her, would also steal money dedicated to helping those disadvantaged by the lethal outbreak his party helped make worse, especially in his own state of Fuck Florida.

Fan-fucking-tastic. And if Greenberg is willing to turn in his groomsman after initially inviting him, the Feds were going whole hog on the full court press, then Gaetz is truly fucked.

When a criminal investigation like this is initiated, the authorities initially go after what the warrants cover - records regarding the sex trafficking and child rape in this case. However, as Kenneth Starr can testify to, the investigation then leads to wherever it takes us, and in the case of Gaetz, I bet there are some interesting paths ahead.

With Greenberg coughing up anything he can think of to save his own skin from 20+ years of solitary confinement in a federal penitentiary, because sex offenders get the tables turned on them so much there is literally a website devoted to how to survive in prison as a convicted sex offender, Gaetz's entire lifestyle (both public and private) are now under the microscope. And if Gaetz thought he could get away sex trafficking and child rape as a Member of Congress, I shudder to think what he tried to do before the public eye was on him.

Sadly, I think being a disgusting creep is what actually drives these people in their careers. I think they want money and power specifically to make it easier to be creepy fucks.
