United have most of the ball, but they have big problems creating any real chances with it and then as usual they concede on a freekick / corner..... Really can't understand how none of the coaches have been able to improve even a little bit on corners and freekicks.....

We've looked this dreadful most of the season though. There's a lot of games we've won without looking impressive where we got the penalty or the counter attack goal and that was that. Sure, the team could be in a worse state but some fans legit think this season is progress because last season was 3rd and now it's 2nd, but that's easier to attribute to Liverpool being ravaged by injuries and falling off than it is us improving and playing bangin' football. Heck, throw Tuchel into Chelsea a month earlier and they'd finish above us as well.

Build up was offside, wouldn't have counted anyway. Never looked like winning, no squad depth, can't play against teams that play 11 behind the ball, and can't defend set pieces. Wasn't rocket science to set up against that. Really just exposed everything we're short on.

I dont think he needed to make a specific substitute but he did need a plan B Villareal had no problem dealing with UTD after about 20 minutes, they just kept doing the same thing, Cavani probably wouldn't have scored without getting the luck of the pin-ball. I am sure Utd fans were screaming at the TV to change something!

Meh, I'm not gonna lose sleep over it, at the end of the day Villareal knew how to counter United's style of play. Grats to them.

As for Ole not making a sub until so late, I can see both arguments for and against it. The best team was already on the pitch but at the same time they were tired by extra time of course. Personally I think it was a mistake to leave it so late to sub, even if it meant losing potential attacking power or how ever one would see it.

It's gonna sound weird but when the lineups were announced I was wondering why Henderson wasn't starting instead of De Gea. That said I have no ill feelings towards De Gea.
