    Battlefield 2042

    So, what does everyone think?

Loved the trailer and the fan service, looks like a step back in the right direction but the removal of the classes to specialists has me worried.

128 players, with the biggest maps ever, no "factions" per se, on the fly weapon changes rather than menu based. No single player, but AI/Bots are back.

    1) Load the amount of weight I would deadlift onto the bench
    2) Unrack
    3) Crank out 15 reps
    4) Be ashamed of constantly skipping leg day

Imo it's pretty bad. Looks pretty, that's it. Told me that it's modern setting, but i want infos. Show me actual gameplay. Trailers like these usually just lose me, too many pretty "in-engine trailers" that just looked pretty for a game that in the end, turns out to be pretty boring.

They're doing another future based Battlefield? Didn't the first one flop hard?

2142... I see this title has a little reference to it by exactly a century behind.

2142 did alright, and this one is a bit more "present" than "future". It's ever so slightly in the future.

Looks good to me so far, though, but will wait for gameplay. I dig the tornado and the diversity of maps, looks rad. Even the old BF3 jump outta the jet and shoot another jet with your rocket launcher and get back in clip.

I'm super bummed to hear there won't be a campaign though. I actually quite enjoyed the campaigns in BF1/V so it's disappointing. But assuming this looks good I may pick it up earlier rather than wait on a solid sale, it's frustrating to be so far behind folks with weapon unlocks given that the past few have had super good weapon unlocks that really outclass the starting weapons.

The AI/Bot system contributes to progression so you could theoretically progress a bit in that before going into MP.

Why was this thread even created...

No sp campaign, no reason for me to play.

One thing I'll say: The rocket launch map looks rad but also infuriates me. Are we supposed to believe we'll be fighting within like, 100 meters of a god-damned rocket launch and not get vaporized and/or blinded/deafened by the force/exhaust? THIS IS SO UNREALISTIC IN MY SHOOTER WHERE A GUY CAN JUMP OUT OF A JET AND SHOOT ANOTHER JET WITH A ROCKET LAUNCHER AND THEN JUMP BACK IN.

Just gonna ruin this even further... "In-engine trailers" and "gameplay trailers" goes through postproduction at times where a color artist makes it look even better and sometimes they do small VFX works to remove some glitches, what I've seen tho are screen-tearing removal which is to ofc make the trailer not have screen-tearing in it. Wouldn't surprise me if other VFX works are done. I rarely see trailers at my work, only once so far, so not sure how widespread it is...but it happens once, it most likely happens again and probably have happened earlier.

Never trust any promotional video even if they claim it's in engine or what not, it is, probably, but also improved upon in post.

I'm waiting for gameplay info, but I had zero expectations after Battlefield 5 and Battlefield 1 have been pretty awful for me; even with that this trailer did absolutely nothing for me.
I've heard they hired a whole bunch of CoD devs for this, so it's likely going to be more of the same shit. Shame Battlefield used to be such a great series.

A bunch? I know they hired an ex-CoD GM type dude to oversee the franchise, but that's very recent and wouldn't likely have any impact on the game. Did I miss others?

Battlefield 2042 will land on October 22nd, and it’ll cost $60 on PC, Xbox One and PS4. It’s $70 on Xbox Series X and PS5. Pre-orders are open right now.
After you get the chance to pay extra for your console cause of the shortages, you get the chance to pay extra for worse controls. Preorder? Fuck off EA, lol.

Yup, that's all I've played in ever BF, I'm not a person who like MP pvp.

Do the same thing with CoD (ie, never bought BOPs 4)

Didn't play the series since Battlefield 2. Yeah that was long ago.

It will never be better than Battlefield Vietnam.

No FPS created since can touch that masterpiece.

BF5 was the first Battlefield game i played since the BF 1942 back in 2002, i can say i enjoyed it before the TTK changes then things became retarded, but one thing is clear with that game.

The lack of anti-hack makes it unplayable most of the times.

I do hope they use some basic form of anti-hack with BF 2042, or at least give community servers with the ability to implement like BF4 apparently has.
