True. I am just pointing out that a Generation does not mean "All interconnective games." It does support the argument though.

Generations are defined by the release of a new region with new pokemon. Until the next game that fits that description is released, all Pokemon titles released after that game are part of that generation.

While they're Pokemon Home compatible, the specifics of that implementation aren't clear yet. If you can transfer freely between BD/SP, PLA, and SW/SH, then they're interconnective, albeit through the PH hub.

Of the 8 gym leaders in Johto ... they use a grand total of 4 gen 2 pokemon.

4 out of 23 gym leader pokemon are Gen 2 Pokemon.

And there is a good number of Gen 2 pokemon only available in the Kanto Post game.

You can't read or didn't at least.

"Transfer freely between" It is a 1 way transfer from Let's Go to Home. You cannot transfer from Home to Let's Go.

Also, you should have known what he was talking about.

For example: You can trade between Gen 1 and Gen 2, but only with Gen 1 compatible pokemon.
And in later gens like Gen 3 can transfer to Gen 4 who can transfer to gen 5 etc ...

No, because I told you what the definition of a generation is.

Even if BDSP has no dynamaxing and no pokemon prior to Gen 4's dex, it is still a Generation 8 Game regardless.

A generation starts when a new set of paired games released that introduces both a new region and new pokemon.
Any and all games released between sets of games that meet the the above definition are a part of a generation.

Sword and Shield started Gen 8, as neither BDSP nor Legends Arceus introduces both a new region and new pokemon, they are both by definition Generation 8.

    It makes perfect sense.
You just like your own nonsense definition more.

If you think a new gen is a new set of pokemon with new mechanics and a region is nonsense, then lol.

Yes, because the mechanics part is not required. Adding that makes your definition nonsensical.

This is why having such strict definitions are a problem. Legends Arceus is in the Hisui region and features new Pokemon. So by your definition Legends Arceus is Gen 9.

The Hisui region is Sinnoh though. It the same region with a different name.

Then why did they name it a different region then? It may eventually become Sinnoh, but that doesn't mean that they're the same.

They literally announced the town you work out of is Jubilife and is the city from Sinnoh.
It is merely a different name for the Sinnoh region.

They chose to name it a different region. You are now backpeddling because I pointed out a flaw in your arbitrary rules.

Except it isn't a different region.
They merely have revealed that the Sinnoh region wasn't always called the Sinnoh region.
That isn't a new region, it is an old region with a new name.

Also, let's say you are right ... Legends Arceus does not fit the definition of a Generational start anyway as it is NOT a paired game.

Every gen had new mechanics added. Gen 4 remakes don't have gen 8 mechanics like fr/lg, ss/hg and oras had with their respective gen. They can't be gen 8. Simple as

Mechanics do not define a generation.
Why aren't you understanding this? A generation is defined as starting with a paired set of games that release both a new region and new pokemon and all games that follow until the next paired set of games that introduce a new region and new pokemon.

    Let's Go lacks z-moves, Let's Go is Generation 7.
Let's Go has Kanto pokemon plus Meltan and Melmetal.

Mechanics had such a big role in defining a generation its not even funny. The physical special split changed battles forever. Let's go is a spin off.
