"Basic logic" dictates that being fine with something less than ideal does not mean that the ideal is not desired, mutual exclusivity not being a thing and all.
Re-read the literal arguments.

He literally said all kids should eat for free. He gave you the answer you were expecting, yet you somehow decided to ignore his answer when formulating your response.
