By literal definition, if he's taking less of a paycheck for his work at Amazon because of his stock in Amazon, then that stock is salary. It is compensation for his work at Amazon. I don't care if that doesn't fit your head cannon or a extremely narrow definition you found of salary one time. What bugs me the most about this is one of my late uncles had Machismo's ideology and he wasn't kidding in the slightest. Everyone else just nodded and ignored him because he was batshit in his views but he kept wanting to discuss them. Walmart came in and it no longer paid to stay open 24 hours a day to compete with them taking a loss from 10p-5am because they can make it up from 6a-9p.

Our local hardware store had a 24 hour emergency # that you could call the owner and manager if there was a real emergency and they would actually come open up to sell you what you needed. It was amazing, but that was the good old days when owners were more in touch with the community and were actually part of it.
