That's literally what the Shadowlands are there for, that's their fundamental function and purpose.
    For mortal souls.

Each realm of X is the afterlife for the being from that realm.

Fire elementals die and go to the firelands.
Light beings die and go to the light realm.
    And so on.

As for the realm of life it seems to be a bit trickier. Wild gods go to the Shadowlands to be reincarnated. So most likely what happens is they rest in their pods then their soul is sent thru that big portal by the Winter Queen to the life realm where they get a new body.
    That would be my guess.
But we will see soon, Elune is pretty center stage at this point.

it's probably where life come from, but anima comes from souls and souls probably come from the first ones/that place the jailer is hanging out. (then again if the first ones literally made the shadowlands out of thin air i guess they could create a soul factory out of thin air too. but then life/death wouldn't be a "balance", just a one directional flowchart.)

souls aren't synonymous with life, there is plenty of life without a soul and there are plenty of not living things with a soul.

i understand your shtick on this website is to be overly argumentative and attack others who you think are wrong about opinions on lore but try not to bait people into it on purpose, thank u
I ask about the kingdoms of Life and you tell me about the afterlife of Light. What exactly am I supposed to understand? Also, I just asked you what you write, I did not insult you, I did not call you a idiot who cannot read, I just asked what you mean.

Danuser said that as long as a mortal is alive and his soul is properly attached to his body, he is considered a creature of life. His mortal is resurrected by necromancy, the connection between soul and body is broken and the undead mortal is considered a creature of death.

Getting the obligatory comment about how they should get back to Azeroth out of the way, if they were to go that route I think they kind of got themselves because of Maldraxxus, as it's already two of the things I'd have wanted to see. OP's idea of a Zerus style world of constant friction and conflict and Val's about an entirely alive place. Except Maldraxxus has to carry the Scourge affectation for nostalgia which is a shame, as it could have stood perfectly easily on its own, so either of those would be derivative of it.

What I'd be partial to alternatively would be a swarm-based zone. The most widespread form of life after all are various microorganisms and in terms of what we can see, bugs. A zone based around insect hives and pools of primal matter would be cool. Past that I'd love to see the Evergrowth alluded to in Chronicle 2, basically a whole place that's constantly changing plant matter under a single being. The botani were a nice hostile spin on the usual ent stereotype.

Dickmann's Law: As a discussion on the Lore forums becomes longer, the probability of the topic derailing to become about Sylvanas approaches 1.

Tinkers will be the next Class confirmed.

Well The Elune forest is practically guaranteed at this point, I'd imagine that as a silvery white an almost arcane style woods in permanent night, perhaps the residents beings some of the well known Night Elven associated animals like Nightsabers, Stags and Owls, maybe evens some more chimeric beings akin to Owlbeasts and armor reminiscent of Tyrande's armor

Of course to foil It we'd need An'she's realm, I'd imagine it to be akin to a wide prairie with stone spires to break up the line of sight, with Tauren-esque aesthetics, and some creatures commonly associated with Tauren and their subspecies roaming around

Personally I agree with a lot of people here about a Hive zone populated nearly entirely with insects and related species, personally I'd enjoy if we allied ourselves with a scorpion-like people playing less with tropes usually associated with Scorpions, perhaps even having gear that downplays the insect aesthetic

Finally I'd personally like a under the ocean type of zone with lighting that gives the impression of players being underwater without actually being underwater, played more akin to something you'd see out of Disney with some salt pools acting as more tradition water, with fish taking the role traditionally given to winged creatures, maybe even the main race we ally with being akin to shrimp or perhaps even murlocs

Those would be my main 4, with Ice Age and Osmosis Jones style zones coming close behind

Edit: shark people could also work for the underwater zone

Living continents, basically giant creatures that work as continent, like a continent is actually a Ginormous dragon that is flying around, while another is a weird Mushroom like whale etc...

I personally don't want them to do a whole planer tourism shtick after how poorly Shady plains has been handled both in set up and presentation but if they were to go in that direction I'd be interested if they did something entirely unexpected. Like a whole place that's on fire. You expect greenery, vegetation and nature but you just get plonked in this ultra version of the firelands if they were primordial and everyone is just like "yeah duh life is like fire, it burns, it goes bright and then it goes out when it gets dark. That green stuff is unnatural." and Druidism gets thrown for a loop again.

Also Elune just gets a single room with a plaque stuck on it saying "mine" to show she's isn't an actual resident or life overlord or whatever after SLs degeneration of her.
Elune: "My sister needed Anima so I let my favoured people die. What is this 'Maw' you speak of?"
Daily reminder that Steam has never had a monopoly on PC Gaming, don't mistake age and popularity for domination.

Kinda hoping we don't have a whole expansion for the Realm of Life, and if we do explore it, I hope it's not like too much of it, but just enough to aid in the plot ahead. Like, a magical forest or so. It's why I think we'll explore the Plane of Life a bit during our attack on Zereth Mortis. Kinda works well with the storyline, and after the WQ and Elune finally got back together, it'd be cool to see them team up and maybe meet who An'she "truly" is, just so Baine could finally do something in SL for once.

The Realms I think we should see but not explore too much of should be the Realms of Life, and Order. Life can work well with SL, and Order can work well with a mini raid against Sargeras during the Light and Shadow expac. Maybe can work as a quest-hub also, or a zone.

We allready know the "realm of life" and that’s where Azeroth is… that’s where living things exist, and die.
That’s where Elune has her children, that’s where she created the Naaru. That’s the "realm of life". Really as simple as that.

    None.

    Shadowlands was a mistake.
    No more cosmic crap please.

Go back to azeroth and do a retcon of the whole map and story.
But before that fire the entire writing team and start over.
