CC info should be safe per their update today. Still worth keeping an eye on just in case.

Also, don't save CC info/use 2 factor authentication.

I feel bad for some of the lower grossing streamers having info leaked, but considerably less bad for the streamers who are making enough off Twitch to have their own Scrooge McDuck rooms of money, even without sponsorships and off-platform partnerships factored in.

But man, Twitch just cannot catch a break. It feels like they stumble from one unforced error to the next, to the occasional bombshell like this every now and then.

Their payouts being leaked isn't that big a deal since anyone can pretty easily get a ballpark figure on how much they earn any time they want. Sit through one stream to tally donations and multiply that by the number of times they stream in a month, then add that to 2.5 times their subs (assuming their subs are set to the minimum 4.99$). Voila, rough monthly earnings. Not flawless math by any means because obviously there are also tier 2/3 subs and daily donations/bits vary but as I said it gets you in the ballpark.

Yea, that's kind of what I thought too. It's incredibly easy with basic math to get a reasonably close guess, hell there are websites that already track subs of many of the big streamers. When Disguised Toast released the percent of money they get from subs a few years ago I quickly used it to calculate what some of the streamers I watched make.

i must have added it to a email i either no longer have access to or forgot the password for. since none of main one got a notification. or maybe it already got hacked and twitch didn't send me a notification since the email has since been switched. i only got it for the promotion for hearthstone/hots. i forgot witch one.

also the way ars technica presented it made it sound like it was just solely source code that got leaked not any personal info which was why i didnt even do anything till today.

Got nothing from Twitch themselves. Hell, there's a news article of it on the website I frequent today despite it happening yesterday.

It's wild to me that people can earn that kind of money just from streaming themselves playing video games. Good for them, at least they're not earning that money being a net-negative for society by shorting stocks and ruining people's livelihoods.
Populists (and "national socialists") look at the supposedly secret deals that run the world "behind the scenes". Child's play. Except that childishness is sinister in adults.

I was really surprised at the earnings of people with low average viewers. I sometimes watch a Dark Souls streamer who barely scrapes over 100 viewers and I kind of felt bad for her until I found out she's earning a full time wage and that's not including donations or sponsorships.

It definitely varies, though. I watch another streamer who averages around maybe 50-75 viewers, and they're not even making minimum wage despite doing this full-time. It can be rough to see people trying so hard and still struggling like that.

The sad thing is even with such low viewers they're still probably in the top 1%.

I am lucky I don't have any important information on twitch. Ever since this breach, I have not been able to get my twitch account to connect to my youtube account. It is really annoying. It makes it harder to transfer my twitch videos to youtube.

Do you mean top 1% globally, as in "the richest 1% of all humans on the planet"...? Or top 1% of Twitch?
