A family spokeswoman has claimed that he acted out of self-defense after being robbed and targeted by bullies.

The shooter shot 3 people. 1 person got injured in a fall.

Footage on social media allegedly showed Simpkins getting into an altercation during class with another student that escalated to gunfire Wednesday.

The fight was broken up and the two students calmed down, but then Simpkins pulled out a firearm from his orange backpack and fired several shots that struck three people, according to an arrest warrant Thursday.

Calvin Pettitt, a 25-year-old English teacher who jumped in to break up the fight, was shot in the back, suffering broken ribs and a collapsed lung, according to police and his family.

Police have said a 15-year-old boy was in critical condition, while a teenage girl who was grazed by a bullet had been discharged from the hospital.

The fourth victim, a pregnant woman, was injured in a fall during the shooting, but received medical care on the scene, police said.

Simpkins was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

Note. I don't think pulling a gun and shooting your bullies is acceptable conflict resolution. I still think the kid shouldn't have been released on bail.

My view as a non US citizen WTF do you expect?

Nobody is dead yet and it's hardly a double digit death toll, so not a good murder porn headline! After all people get shot all the time!

So it's no biggy and it wont be until your citizens pain and suffering is worth more than billions per year in gun's and ammo sales... Radical I know!

1. The story did get attention. I saw headlines about the story on at least three different news websites I frequent.
2. School shootings have sadly become so common that one that only involves injuries and no deaths just isn't going to get a TON of attention, I'm not sure why you expect it to.

Read up it was a targeted shooting on specific bullies, not a random mass shooting.

One of the people shot was the teacher who broke up the fight so it really was not only specific to the bully.

I have said multiple times on this site that schools need to start treating bullying far more seriously. Seems too often that schools do jack shit and are sometimes also the bully.
