I kinda thought these threads were banned because they always kinda sorta turn into a shit show.

This post brought to you by the right wing gang.
If you are particularly bold, you could use a Shiny Ditto. Do keep in mind though, this will infuriate your opponents due to Ditto's beauty. Please do not use Shiny Ditto. You have been warned.

The left is a very broad term, but it seems you have even forgotten that when you swung so far to the right you became a nazbol.

Yeah, I know about all the fucks up by Blair and his countless war crimes. Horrid human being.

And I could give less of a shit why Corbyn lost because it does not change what the liberal/right-wing of labour did.
Left-wing parties very rarely win in any European countries no matter what ideology they hold, people voting for self-interests(if they have an above average income) or just plain out idiotic reasons(the far right parties) is nothing new. And most people also don't care if the lifestyle they enjoy requires exploitation of poorer countries, neither do most people care about all the wars their country is involved in as long as it does not harm them directly. But none of this means those things are then okay.

Yeah, how dare he point out racist tropes that some books use.

There is a hard reality that the current GOP is filled with bigots, homophobes, science deniers, and people who just want liberals to suffer. Someone who still identified as part of the GOP even if they don't hold those views themselves are somehow ok with it and are ok with aligning themselves to those people.

    For example:

Just how many conservatives are going to call on him to resign?

Why wouldn't they? It worked so well for decades on the right.

Ah yes, the typical conservative inability to read context. There is no doubt that the author of those books is a bigot. And that was exactly the point. In fact it was even stated "you can enjoy HP but the author is...."

    Maybe next time actually read?

Oh it started long before that. "Welfare queens" not to mention the handling of the AIDS crisis. The demonization by the right wing started a long time ago and was made a core principle with Newt.

Now it's all about fear and demonization. Immigrants are stealing your jobs, raping your women, and bringing disease. Trans people are molesting children in bathrooms. Teachers are indoctrinating your kids with communism (lulz). Scientists are lying to you to strip away your rights. And so on and so on and so on.

I often wonder how the hardcore right-wingers are even able to get out of bed when they think the whole world is out to get them. No wonder so many of them snap and shoot up the nearest group of people.

Furthermore, I feel like that if we even start having the discussion it will only further fuel some kind of attempt to eventually succeed in getting to the end-goal of where Harry Potter readers must be accused of bigotry or perhaps worse persecution and harassment.

To me it's nonsense. Just like when people try to declare that meat is racist or a certain brand of syrup is too. As it is to most people.

Furthermore, I don't think this conversation or discussion needs to be had, your examples don't need to be discussed, not only because of it's nonsense, but also because it'll risk on leading to forbidden forum subjects as well.
In other words, you can't make an argument that I'm wrong about any of it, and want to just generically imply that it's crazy along with your made-up nonsense positions. You're not even arguing against what I actually said; you're arguing against some slippery slope progression that you flat-out made up out of nothing.

Racism is not a forbidden topic. And if it were, you whining about me pointing out racism would, itself, be "discussing racism", so this is really just you deflecting in the hopes nobody expects you to actually make a case that I was wrong about anything.

And if you feel a post crosses the line, report it, don't try to backseat moderate.

Left. I have zero respect for anyone claiming to be right wing these days because you have to either:

be dumb enough not to realize your party leader is a complete con man
    or
be gung ho about your party leader being a complete con man

(Liz Cheneys and Adam Kinzingers non-withstanding)

    Just . . . don't do them?
Don't use anti-semitic tropes for greedy bankers.
Include a diverse cast of characters, that isn't exploitative or stereotyped.
If you're going to include slavery, don't make the slaves complicit, and don't make freeing them a joke nobody takes seriously.

These were things that had to be created. "Fixing" them is as simple as not making those choices as an author in the first place.

They've got all the artistic freedom they want. Nobody's forcing Rowling to change her books or something.

If they use that freedom to push racist tropes, though, then the author's a racist and we're gonna point out that they're racist and what they wrote is racist.

That's also freedom. If the racists can't hack it, they can fuck off and keep it to themselves.

There's . . . a lot. Stuff that you kinda glossed over as you read it, maybe, but once you notice the hand of the author in this stuff, it's pretty unpleasant.
"Once the goblin-Jew connection is made, it’s easy to prove a dislike for Jews. After all, Rowling’s distaste for goblins is quite evident. Rubeus Hagrid – a character inclined to see the good in all people and creatures – warns Harry about goblins in the first 100 pages of the seven book series: “They’re goblins Harry. Clever as they come, goblins, but not the most friendly of beasts.” Deathly Hallows portrays goblins as impassionate neutrals in a fundamentally moral war who ironically play something of a Switzerland banking for the Nazis (Gringotts goblins). In Goblet of Fire, goblins are more concerned with their money than the terrorization of innocents (World Cup Dark Mark raid). And, as judged by the only goblin we really get to know in detail – Griphook – goblins are untrustworthy.

This line of reasoning seems compelling, but to foist it on Rowling and the Potter series seems unjust. For one, Rowling does a great deal of borrowing in her stories. She followed established conventions, endowing her dragons with fiery breath and wings, giving her trolls dim wit and powerful clubs, and her goblins with short stature, hooked noses, and greedy manipulation—archetypes that existed well before Rowling ever put pen to paper. Perhaps Rowling drew her goblin based on the goblins in the Nineteenth Century poem “Goblin Market,” in which goblins lure and trick with “evil gifts.” Or consider JRR Tolkein’s goblin—“A foul creature…slightly smaller, sometimes hunched over or appearing to walk and run with limps.” Or just look up goblin in the dictionary and you find a definition that largely resembles Rowling’s creatures. Perhaps the goblin character has its origins in anti-Semitism, but Rowling can hardly be convicted of unjust commentary for using a now-familiar Western literary character.

Additionally, the debate over whether the goblin character has its roots in anti-Semitism is wholly unaligned with Rowling’s professed views on Jews. In 2004, Rowling visited a Holocaust Museum and compared the hated “mudblood” and “half-blood” terms used in Harry Potter with the anti-Semitic propaganda of the Nazis: “If you think this is far-fetched, look at some of the real charts the Nazis used to show what constituted Aryan or Jewish blood.” Rowling has also gone on record saying that her evil character—Lord Voldemort—is modeled in part off of Hitler. Both comments won her comments of praise from Jewish organizations.

Then there are the movies—in which Rowling played an active oversight roll. The actor that plays Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe has a Jewish mother, and the film company that produces the movies, Warner Brothers, owes its start to Hirsz, Abraham, Szmul, and Itzhak Wonskolaser (later changed to Warner).

In the eyes of this aspiring Gryffindor, we Jews can enjoy—without misgiving—the latest, and final, Harry Potter movie."

The problem really lies with you Endus. That you are in fact so terribly racist and have so little expectations to other religions and cultures, that you feel you have to "rise up" to the occasion when you perceive something "unjust". Like some white knight, galloping on your pony to save the day from artists that dont conform to the SJW values. You probably even complained that there where too many African actors in Black Panther.
