Couple streams of the game looked really good. The ability to switch mods on the fly was pretty neat to see in action.
Just don't reply to me. Please. If you can help it.

Played a few rounds. Servers are a touch wonky and I'll totally need to get used to these guns, but I'm digging it so far. Looks and runs great but I haven't tweaked the settings (2K resolution with a 3070) which is nice.

But holy shit it's also kinda hilarious. You can legit just like...stand on the rocket launch platform as it launches and smokes spews everywhere. No damage, no death, just smoke. The future is wild.

It's really weird. I was having a blast...while getting incredibly frustrated lol.

I'm really hoping, for the first time in battlefield history, this truly is a months old build and it's not this bad at release. The UI is ass, when it works. Picking up my sentry, that most of the time ignores enemies, teleports me to some weird spot way off the map.

The guns feel terrible to me. The SMGs oddly enough feel like they hit harder, faster, and more accurate even at medium ranges than anything else. I could probably throw a rock with a faster and flatter trajectory than the sniper rifles.

I'm hoping this will be different with skins but everyone looks the same, there is no differentiation between either side. I guess in a modern conflict between two major powers this could be a possibility but I dunno.

One thing I did notice when I get into a match and the UI bugs out and doesn't let me choose a specialist. I could click on the blank specialist button and it showed me like 6 other options ontop of the new ones plus more going off the screen it seemed from previous battlefield titles. The character faces were very ...dated looking.

I think I'm going to enjoy it, there's a massive amount of promise with the game, I just hope to god it doesn't release in this state.

Also something funky is up with graphics. Max settings 100% cpu, 30% GPU at 56 celsius.

I don't like that you can do skiing in this game.

Played a few rounds and honestly a bit worried about this. After the mass exodus of devs in BF1, it's showing. A few issues are beta only but it's contributing to the overall experience of the game feeling off. The devs have said this is an older builder and lots of work has gone into it since this - well show us that then? Some footage, anything. Give us a reason not to be nervous about this release, again.

    - Guns dont feel impactful. Mostly sound design I think.

    - Physics/gravity is fucked (beta issue I assume), vehicles feel floaty. Planes handle like a bathtub.

    - HUD is awful and needs a full rework. Needs scaling added.

    - Hitreg/netcode, my old friend, you're back and crappier than ever.

    - Specialist system does not work for me. A few small tweaks could make it work like faction specific skins, lock specialists to classes and just bring back the class system. e.g Boris as Assault, has his unique ability but always has an ammo crate too. Maria as support, always has a medical crate but has her syringe too.

    - TTK is fine but bullet velocity is wonky, especially on longer range engagements. Being able to see a bullet fly and sidestep it is just wrong. Again, think the physics engine is fucking with the bullet drop at ranges too, doesn't feel consistent.

    - Graphics and map density somehow feel like a downgrade, I guess that's what happens with bigger maps and more players

    - AI needs work, they clump together and stand on objectives.

    - The map sucks, lots of open space without much going on, I prefer denser urban maps - open maps like this need more vehicles imo. Breakthrough would've been a better choice as it is the superior game mode now.

    - Vehicle call ins is a stupid change. They land too quickly, so you can just call it in from cover in the middle of a fight. Bring back the static in game spawns to give a reason to fight over an objective as well as spawn menu options, have a bit of everything.

    - Scoreboard change is dumb. Give us back kill-death-score. I have no idea how I'm doing, if I'm contributing. Not this squad position nonsense, which ironically matters less with the move to specialists and less onus on squad play.

    - Grappling hook needs looking at, the bunnyhoping Titanfall gameplay is really fun but has no place in the game, it shouldn't work on grass and needs a longer cooldown.

    - Movement system has gone backwards from BFV. Why?

There are more, but they're the main ones. Disclaimer - I've played since BF2, really started playing around BC2, with something like 1000-1500 hours per title since then, yes including Heores (which I maintain was a fantastic game well ahead of its time). I love the BF franchise and really want this to do well.

    1) Load the amount of weight I would deadlift onto the bench
    2) Unrack

Loved the trailer and the fan service, looks like a step back in the right direction but the removal of the classes to specialists has me worried.

128 players, with the biggest maps ever, no "factions" per se, on the fly weapon changes rather than menu based. No single player, but AI/Bots are back.
Of course, the trailer looks so mesmerizing that you just can't take your eyes off of it. The trailer shows all the features that await us and it's impossible not to be excited. But it's a shame that if you have an old PC, in order to play 128 by 128 you need to upgrade the hardware. But I probably will not do this, I will be enough to play 64 to 64. I really love the Battlefield series of games, for me it's probably my favorite shooter. Prices of course, the game just incredible. For the most common version, for example, here you'll have to pay $60, but obviously this is done only to make more people subscribe. So we wait for the release, and then I'll think about which version to buy or subscribe.

I really like this. You're stuck far away from combat, maybe in the middle of a field after just defending a point? Call in a truck and haul ass! I'm down with removing tanks from the call ins, but I like that you can get some transportation for long runs.

I hope this really is a "months old build" and that this isn't Apex Legends open beta all over again, it's a bit rough but overall I quite enjoyed it. May just end up picking it up at launch, I need another shooter and this felt solid enough for me. I like the weapon customization in-match, glad it's going to be available from the main menu too.

And yay for progress carrying over from the beta if/when you pick up the game.

    Did 3d spotting work/get removed/not work?

    I couldn't use it.
I really want my 3d spotting

Is this game looking solid? I'm unsure whether to buy it. Will be waiting until it's released and to see actual gameplay regardless.

It seems to be the same system as BFV, passive spotting on mouseover (within range) vs. being able to mash a key and spot them for everyone. I love the spotting minigame and getting those free spot points when dudes I spot are killed, but I can get why they removed it.

There does seem to be a helicopter with a spotter position though. Not sure which, but one of the smaller helicopters has position that's just a camera, and it seems if you click while there's an enemy in the center of the frame it'll spot them for everyone.

Unrelated: I hate how little damage rockets and shit seem to do to tanks. I didn't get a chance to play around with the AA rocket (which seems fairly easy to dodge for decent pilots), but dumping 3-4 rockets into a tank and then running out of them and seeing the tank still at 1/4 HP or more is depressing.

I hope they'll have servers with vehicles disabled. Sometimes I just wanna go shoot people and not have to worry about carrying around anti-tank rockets. Or some idiot on my own team running over me.

Though not gonna lie, running over enemies is fuckin hilarious. Had a blast repeatedly taking vehicles to their backlines at points we were assaulting and just driving around like a madman. Sure I didn't run too many folks over, sure my blind gunner probably didn't get a single kill, but the absolute chaos it caused was delightful. Also helped scatter and distract them enough so that my team could take the point. 10/10, would play the Benny Hill song while driving over folks again.

Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

I don't know... no matter how silly it was, same with medic trains, but reviving isn't fun anymore, supporting your team is much more difficult as well and now you can't even properly spot and tell your team where something is

Agreed. Just do 2143 and move on. 2042 is just a reskin of 3-5. At least BF1 was something new.

BF at this point is just Madden and Fifa. Repackaging the same game.

I played mostly as the medic lady and I liked it. Revived a lot of folks, though the "accidentally steal their gun instead of revive them" issue seems to be something they're looking to address. And I don't mind that you can now bring meds/ammo as any "operative" or whatever they're called. Makes it harder to find a nearby medic, but I'd rather they not limit folks based on what character they pick (and I like the more variety in terms of what characters can bring).

Though I think you can still use the "move here" command to pop up a ping for teammates to highlight where enemies are. Wish they'd have a ping system similar to what exists in Apex Legends though. Plenty of room for that, it makes sense within the game, and it'd allow players to give warnings/directions without specifically just highlighting enemies.

What is worse is that some bugs are not fixed, I have encountered bugs in BFV that were introduced in BF4. They did not even bother to fix it. If I had to guess, that UI bug is still not fixed.

I strongly suggest that people do not buy DICE products.

On the video, I mean I wouldn't buy this game even if it was in perfect condition but man, pretty much any imaginable aspect is broken. Sound, networking, animations, hit registration, graphics. The game appears to be in a pathetic state.

Release date is Nov. 19. GL fixing the game by that time, they're gonna need it. I sincerely hope that people do not buy "this build is old" kind of crap from EA/DICE.

One operator is announced as non-binary. Social networks are relieved.

I was suprised to see that the UI is vastly different from the beta.
    Gave me hope again.

Pandering that takes absolutely zero development time aside from saying "This person is non-binary, aren't we progressive? Buy our product, don't forget our season pass!". This doesn't bother me anymore, it's all a sales tactic.

So I decided to check the game out via the EA Play trial. Now it's been years since I last played a Battlefield game so my standards may be low but I find it pretty enjoyable so far. I'm on Series X and have noticed zero performance issues. Framerate is smooth and no major bugs or glitches. I'll need to play a bit more but the Portal is definitely gonna be the biggest draw for this game I think especially if they add more maps and options.
