Did some digging around. Seems its actually not even a small issue. Its a pretty big one. Looked on reddit and there are complaints all over. Some people even tried to sign up with brand new accounts, and some used multiple accounts, and didn't get it. Seems there system just really sucks at distributing the event emails.

Yeah. It isn't rare at all. Everytime there is an announcement I log into my account ASAP and make sure the mailing list is checked.
I don't know if it does something or is just a placebo on my part.

One guy said he made 15 accounts and only got 1 code. He had issues in the past events so tried this. It's crazy how bad the system for emails is. Mine just doesn't send any emails anymore no matter how often I log in and reset my preferences.

The only reason it is accepted as a Leopard is because of a quote from the creator.

The beasts of Johto have cat, dog, and other inspirations in their design. Hence, why people call them Legendary Beasts.
The argument of whether they were dog or cat based led to people deciding that they were Gerbils.

It is teasing something new. Given we have seen Hisuian Growlithe and Kantonian Vulpix in the game, we know it isn't another one of those.
Some guess it is Hisuian Arcanine (or Hisuian Growlithe's evo if not Arcanine), but doesn't make sense to confuse with the evolved forms of either.

So it is likely a small pokemon that could be confused to Growlithe/Vulpix. Some are thinkin Zorua.

What do you mean found footage, this looks exactly like the other Legends footage we've seen. Just as muddy anf grainy :P

Well since Hisuian Pokémon are extinct in current era games, basing them off on (near) extinct animals from the area makes sense. Doubly so if it is not a regional form or evolution.

Being exterminated during the Meiji Restoration fits the Legends timeframe perfectly, so I'd be surprised if there wasn't a Pokémon based on Hokkaido Wolf in the games.

If you only played Gen 6-8 you'd automatically know that 7 and 8 are really, REALLY worse than Gen 4. Gen 6 is the bomb, and brought the best changes this franchise has ever seen

Gen IV was definitely the slowest generation especially in DP where HP drained terribly slowly.
