i have no association/connection with the name McCree to anything other then a character i play and the voice of Matt Mercer. Seeing the switch to Cole Cassidy feels off but i dont have any better suggestion, and clearly standing still isnt an option.

Don't be ridiculous. McCree is a name. If you like the name, that's fine. If you want to name your characters McCree, sure, go ahead.

But the name McCree showing up in Blizzard properties is an explicit reference to a real person called McCree who was part of a toxic work culture and was fired for it. Blizzard's well in their rights to remove references to such people from their IPs.

It doesn't make you an asshole for preferring the name or wanting to name your own characters McCree, it only makes you an asshole if you argue that they shouldn't be changing the name at all because you don't care as much as the people who worked with the guy.

I stopped giving them money long ago. The lawsuit and surrounding fallout reinforced that decision. However, there's little to be gained from perpetuating the notion that someone may be an actual harasser or abuser when there's little indication that they ever were.

What was McCree even accused of? I don't remember seeing his name in the lawsuit or any other accusations against him like there were with Afrasiabi. I think it's VERY unfair to jump to conclusions and lump McCree in with the people who were doing inappropriate things when nothing has come out about him personally.
