How much gold do you have? You might still be considered "broke"

Ok, so you might think you have a lot of money but get this. There are a couple of hundred characters that seem to have access to unlimited amounts of gold and they're not even cheating!

    (Blizzard employees hate this trick.)

Almost every freaking Quest-NPC has practically unlimited amounts of gold. Up to this point they have handed out quest reward money to millions of players. Not once, not twice but uncountable times due to alts and daily quests. A damn level 6 NPC in Brill must be swimming in gold! But how do they make all that money? My opinion? They cooperate with class trainers and other merchants. The players pay for their skills or for buying expensive accessories (hello Long Neck) and pay the Quest-NPCs who then pay you back for questing. It is a circle of immense cash flow - and they are not even laundering any gold (ok maybe the goblins are, but that is a different story. I am looking at you Gallywix!).

So the questions remains? Are you broke? Or do you still think, you are rich?
Also, how do I join the circle of cash flow? :X

Prior to quiting WoW for good way back in February I had capped out on Battle.net Balance at €250 with 10 Tokens, had 10 Tokens in bank, and 4m gold. Had the 2m and 5m gold mounts.

I think I remember having 5 million between all my main 5-8 characters? Before I quit in late 2018.

Couple hundred k perhaps when i quit abit after launch, i have played since BC and never had one million gold i just go with what i have from quests and what not. Farming was never my thing more then mounts.
Do you hear the voices too?

how much gold you have doesn't matter, only your income.

i have around 10m, but that's slowly build up over time so that once something like the brutosaur comes along i can buy it.

but that's now how things work anymore, i know plenty of boosters who have an income of millions a month and who also spend like crazy or w/e they want.

so while i have more gold in my wallet than most players, i consider myself poor in the post token world. i cant just buy every 250k+ mount/toy/etc in the game without care.

I've been hovering about 1 million gold for a while now. For whatever reason 9.1 really clicked with me and I just played the casual content a ton. Didn't go out of my way to make gold or anything, was just doing dailies and callings, selling excess Korthite Crystals, and I got lucky with some of the BoE cosmetic shoulders and sold those for a decent chunk of gold.

Barely anything, i just buy everything i want, no point in hoarding gold as can easily make more if need be.

    2.5 - 3mil, somewhere in that range (haven't played for a month).

The game is these days, I simply don't spend gold.
Upgrade to BiS Lego? Meh... I'll wait a month till prices have tanked.
Lego for Alts? Sure, they can have the crappy ilvl one just for effect.
Awesome Vendor mount number 575758 in 37 different colors? Pass.

You get the idea... I've just been accumulating. I sell mats from mission tables etc, but don't actively farm anything.
Occasionally I spend gold on a Token for gametime, but thanks to RAF (among other things) I've still got about 4 months worth that I'm not currently using. Perhaps as more of my recruits quit (most of them already have) I'll start to spend gold faster than I accumulate it... or I'll spend none of it because as of right now, 9.1.5 isn't enough to get me playing again.

    "Broke" is quite subjective.

I'm far from as rich as a lot of people, but I also have more gold than I need. 95% of my gold spent, is on repairs. Every single mat I need, I get myself. Got a druid for mining/herbing, and a demon hunter for skinning (yes a druid would probably be better, but I didn't want to make 2 druids).

4 of my chars are "maxed out" in terms of Mission Table efficiency, I could have done it on all 10 but I couldn't honestly be bothered. Even just those 4 bring in a ton more gold than I need, and that's just from tables. Not counting stuff any other gold source.

I'm not overflowing in wealth, but I also haven't needed to pay for a sub since like ... WoD, pretty much. My gold intake is still quite a bit higher than my gold spent, and has been for years. Sometimes I might decide to buy a piece of gear at the start of a new tier, which sets me back a bit... But nothing I can't recover passively.

eta: I'm sure I'll catch flak for saying this, but maybe once or twice a month I'll do a M+ boost with my guild, which is also a ton of gold for how easy it is. Majority of my gold is still earned passively / during dailies though.

If I don't respond to something you tagged me in, assume one of two things.
    1) Your post was too stupid to acknowledge, or
    2) Your post is cringe and not worth replying to.

Alternatively, if it happens a lot I probably have you blocked due to one of the above things. Thank you.

About 350k gold. I had one million but I’m quite improvident.

About 6 million. Most of it earned over the course of 2-2½ months or so, after which I stopped because I realized there was no point to making more gold. I buy feasts and shadestones for my raid, and with some very passive AH listing, I have been doing that and coming out maybe 5-10k ahead a week for months. I don't spend anything, and making gold actively isn't really why I play the game. I know I could get to 10mil, or even 100mil if I really wanted to. I just don't.

About 30 million across 110 characters.

Honestly don't remember. I know before I quit, I liquidated as much as I could into B.net tokens and gave away a bunch of gold to people on my friends list or random people in Oribos to make their day... but I still probably have a couple million gold on my chars on the off-chance I come back in 10.0 or later.

Gold is really easy to come by with even minimal effort, but there's no real use for gold after a certain point beyond paying for the sub. I know Blizz tries to throw in the gold sinks, but most don't feel like they're worth it. The only three purchases I felt like were a good gold sink were the vendors mounts: the original WotLK vendor mount, the reforging-turned-xmog yak mount, and the long boi AH mount (the later two I still used constantly through Shadowlands). Otherwise, everything else was either just +1 to my list of mounts out of hundreds I'll never use, or just random stuff never to see the light of day.

Too bad there wasn't some infinite or constantly updated content like player housing to sink your gold into. I would've even taken a casino in-game.

650k. I spend my gold mostly in WoW tokens for subs, but these are so expensive now. :/

I have about 1mil g. Made from emmisaries on one char. I do buy stuff from black ah from time to time, so i tend to be inbetween dirt poor and ok.

I have about 500-something thousand gold.
Never had anything close to a million.

I've never been particularly good at gold farming.

Is the concept of broke or rich relative to the person with the most in your world?
If it is then the question is what are the cutoff points?

Always been poor in WoW. Never had more than 6 figures. Farming gold just isn't something that interests me at all.
