No joke, but you are the first person I've seen to even mention how "hard" Leon is; didn't even realize people thought he was hard.

I have seen in on Twitter as people always bring it up with the "Leon vs Cynthia" debate.

    Hey folks, have a question/s.
My sister-in-law wanted to get my brother Sword and Shield for Christmas, and we would split the cost. Fair enough, easy. He bought the games pre-owned + discounted from where he works. Even easier!

But we also wanted to get him the Expansion Pass. It's been ages since I bought my own, so I can't remember how it works; but I looked on EBgames (Australia btw, incase that makes any difference (doubt it, but still)), and they have the expansion pass for Sword and Shield as a digital download, but there is a warning below it that says "This download requires a copy of either Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield game to redeem. You will be prompted to choose Pokémon Sword OR Pokémon Shield upon redemption."

The product isn't very helpful, it just hypes up the 2 DLCs.
There is also a disclaimer at the bottom of the description that says "Download code can only be redeemed on one compatible console. Valid only with an Australian account. Please make sure you have enough space before downloading. If you have nearly exceeded the system storage on your console you may require a compatible microSD card. Use of this download code requires internet access and acceptance of the user agreement applicable to the Nintendo eShop where you redeem this download code. To use the download code and online services you must have a Nintendo Account and accept the network related terms and privacy policies. A system update may be required to play."

    - Does this mean that, as he has a copy of Sword AND a copy of Shield, we need to get him 2 expansion passes? Or will the one expansion pass cover it?
    - Would we be better off just getting him a eShop gift card so he can get it directly from the Switch eShop and not have to bother with getting a code from a 3rd party store?
    - Anyone know if the Passes are available in physical form? I can only find digital downloads when I search online.

I didn't think they would give items and sets like they did before you even beat the game the first time.
As someone who didn't buy it, I'm glad they at least kept Cynthia busted, especially given forced XP share is a thing.

    - Back when i bought it, Sword expansion pack and Shield expansion pass were 2 separate products. I have my doubts this somehow changed.
    - I seem to recall they are nowadays selling the games bundled with the expansion pass; that would probably be your best bet
    - I've seen them being sold that way; but the boy probably contains just the code, which you then activate in the e-store

Either way you decide to go; your friend will have to wait for a download/update when he 1st runs it; and will have to activate the expansion passes in nintendo's e-store... so i'd probably opt for the e-shop version of bundle, including expansion pass.

    Based on what my brother, who recently played Pearl. and this week played the new version, told me;
He hardly noticed the XP share. His pokemon were at about the same levels they were in pearl, even with XP share on.

I have yet to get my hands on the game; i'll probably wait for it to be compatible with HOME.

You need to buy DLC for each version separately, totaling to 90 bucks per game.

Xp share only ruins start a bit, but later it allows you to skip the anoying mountain part with repel. Its realy a timesaver as when i originaly play the game it took me much longer. (also no need for tm slave -- exept flash in some area)
    Don't sweat the details!!!

Yeah, I was looking at the bundles. But I couldn't find any proof of it's existence while browsing online, besides the articles talking about it on news websites. IDK if it was a non-Australia thing or what, but all I could find was the base games.

Edit: Found the bundles on ebgames, they were named weirdly. But only preowned and heavily out of stock.

You and I have very different definitions when judging difficulty.

You are literally saying "If you cheese it, it isn't hard." If you have to cheese it to make it easy, it isn't actually easy.

Yes, the game allows use of items to boost stats, but the game isn't thinking people are going to abuse X-attacks and X-Speed.

    this
if you need to use X items to set up a +6/+6 sweeper to win, then the fight is already hard for you

and no other champion fight requires that, they just get beaten with normal SE moves

BDSP have to be the most glitchy pokemon games since the originals.

Most likely because they're rebuilt in Unity instead of being remakes in the same engine like most of the remakes have been.

It's not worse(though IMO Unity is a PoS engine), but it definitely hasn't had a decade of testing that their other engine has had(assuming they've used the same engine for each gen)

They copypasted original scripting from the originals.

People have found NEW glitches in original Diamond and Pearl because they have cropped up in BDSP.

I have Shining Pearl and it's crashed on me three times. Otherwise I haven't experienced any glitches. But those crashes are bad. I've left auto save on because of it.
