There also is plenty of local wild “life” that wasn’t bound to the jailer still prowling around that could take a bite out of her.

Side note don’t forget this isn’t just Azeroth dead but the dead from countless worlds that were sent there so she probably has to save them too.

Sylvanas gets to farm Venari rep and S1 stygia gem sockets for the rest of eternity.

    Truly, fate worse than death.

That's kind of the issue I have with how all of this is phrased and presented from the dialogue. Realistically, Sylvannas would have to send every soul to the Arbiter no matter how one spins this... and that means emptying out the Maw entirely of souls. It's raises a loooot of questions about the Maw's role in everything and how things will go forward.

They should've just said "Rescue all the souls your actions sent there as your punishment," and left it at that... still a little vague, but it doesn't mess with the lore/story potentially. Making comments like saving souls until you're the only one left in the Maw sounds edgy, but that sounds like it was written by someone who doesn't know their own lore.

To be fair, this exchange is nowhere near as damaging as the Jaina/Khadgar exchange. It's a bad time in WoW storytelling when your metric of how good something is revolves around how much damage it doesn't do.

*edit* - Forgot to mention: anyone else find it rather humorous about the comment of death being mercy? ...seriously Blizz, what are you thinking, we literally have been in the afterlife this entire expansion. Whether they kill her or not doesn't matter, she'll still be in the Shadowlands. You could kill her and still give her the same sentence. Destroying your soul is one thing, but the standard death sentence basically has lost all its teeth now, especially since apparently we can just move back and forth between the realms anyways.

“It's not an endlessly expanding list of rights — the 'right' to education, the 'right' to health care, the 'right' to food and housing. That's not freedom, that's dependency. Those aren't rights, those are the rations of slavery — hay and a barn for human cattle.”

From the sounds of this, you haven't played the most recent ZM Campaign quest. One of the key realisations/ideals the new arbiter is championing is that "All souls deserve a chance at redemption", which is what many/all the souls in the Maw didn't get(not only because the Arbiter was broken and all souls were going to the Maw, but presumably some souls were sent straight to the Maw in the previous arbiter set up as well).

So it sounds like the plan is to send all the souls out of the Maw, send them back through the Arbiter to go to where they're supposed to be.

"for knowingly committing genocide and condemning the slain to super hell you just have to walk around the maw for a few years"

Yep, we saw this one coming from a mile away because they are obsessed with a sylvanas redemption and sweeping teldrassil under the rug immediately.

I hate current day Sylvanas and all but..... to have her do Maw chores is just not someone you should put on anyone. Its far too cruel.

I already imagine her trying to free a soul yet a mob next to her respawns and attacks before she got to rescue him. Also no mounting allowed

You know that's her excuse to go look for nathanos, right?

    Sorry but WHAT?!

Maybe she is getting redemption, but at least she's getting it through literally the harshest route possible.
And Teldrassil is not being swept under the rug. This is literally a direct consequence of that event.

My braincells are working overtime trying to figure out how you got the your conclusion.

The Maw is no longer a hell, this isn't harsh at all, you may have forgot that. She's just picking up souls for an expansion or two before they bring her back. Harshest punishment would be obliterating her soul, like some of the night elves souls got obliterated in the maw or how arthas' soul is no more, as she was a worse arthas. Teldrassil is literally getting swept under the rug after this and she will return in the future most likely, this is just to get her out of the spotlight after she has been so heavily featured for the last couple of expansions.

She will have to walk because we looted her mount in the SoD raid.

Who would have guessed back during the Burning of Teldrassil that Sylvanas' punishment would be community service work in hell?

    Very much this.

Pelagos has made it clear that throwing people into the Maw is an absolute last resort if a soul is so irredeemable that not even Venthyr can do anything about them.

Not that it matters really because what covenants do to souls isn't really all that different from what Jailer did. An irredeemable cluster B soul can be throw into the blender and used to power my Kyrian Colloseum just as well.

Which begs the question on why Maw existed and why there was a need to funnel irredeemable souls there in the first place.
Did not a single Eternal figured out that all iredeemable souls can be just turned into energy to power all covenant's contraptions?

Sylvanas-19 will be quarantined in the Maw. A quarantine period shorter than 6 years won't suffice.

A horrible story that has forever ruined a lot of the magic and mystery of the IP. At least this is a step to just forgetting about her.

  17. #57
Soooooooo will she come back in 11.0 or 12.0. Poor Tyronedude.

I think people are giving the ending too much credit.

It will be a good ending if she actually suffers consequences for it. Like if she returns in the future after her task is done but she's just a withered husk ready to accept her own end.

Anything where they try to bring her back prematurely will just prove this was done just to hand wave Teldrassil off her slate. "Sylvanas faced her judgement already - LEAVE HER ALONE!!!!!!" - Danuser says hysterically in a Chris Crocker voice
