Looking for a gaming PC, budget is ~2500 for PC only

    Good evening,

I am in the market for a gaming PC, my budget for the desktop will be ~2000 to 3000.

I want to run max settings on everything I throw at it. I want to run 3 instances of WoW and 4 instances of Apex Legends with 54 Chrome tabs open and still be fine enough to run Adobe After Effects.

I know it sounds kinda facetious, just tired of the stuttering and my PC is about 3 years old, its time for me to buy.

    Thank you in advance.

Unless you bought a very low end rig 3 years ago, if you're having stuttering problems at settings reasonable for the hardware, its the game(s) in question being poorly optimized or you've got a software problem on your rig.

    Are you building this yourself?

I was really looking for a good quality gaming computer. I often play games. One of my favorites is minecraft. The topic of survival is very relevant in our time. And for these games do not need a very powerful video card. For the games I play, I'm good enough GIGABYTE GeForce RTX3050 8Gb GAMING OC. So, look at this model if you play often. For your own comfort.

    ~$2200usd 12700k/3070ti build

Do whatever with chassis, 1200w psu is also there for the lolz can easily get away with a 1000w

Also, 4000 series will be coming out somewhere between q4 of this year and q1 next year so keep that in mind with gpus.

Still under their budget. Might as well future proof it a little. Seems like this dude would be the type of guy who would buy a build like this then upgrade again later

Agreed on 12700k and 3070. Pretty good right now, hard to compete with. Also just aim for a 1000 watt PSU. I would not spend money on a 3080ti or w/e when were ½ a year away from maybe new GPU's, but thats me...I like Corsairs 400d airflow, in my country it also extremely popular right now...We have this pricerunner thing that also ranks, and its always top 3, or 1# many weeks in a row. Cheap case too.

Efficiency is one reason. PSUs are most efficient at a 50% load and a 3080 is one hungry card. Depending on where you live and how hard eletricity costs are rising right now a 1000W or 1200W PSU could be the better deal long term.

i think we just identified your issue right here, for starters no system in the budget you have would be able to manage this feat, if you're being genuinely series you would need at least 128GB of RAM ideally 256GB or more, and you can only achieve those thresholds with an AMD threadripper chip based system, which won't come cheap at all.

if this is all just being overly dramatic and hyperbolic then i would recommend waiting at least another 4-5 months until all the new AMD chips are released and there's a greater set of options to pick from if you can hold out until then.

Better reason for a 1200w since they wont need to upgrade that part later since gpus and cpus are getting increasingly more power hungry.

$100. You save $100 on a similar efficiency 850w. Its not that much of a big deal

Umm no? Since he will be throwing the PSU away in 3 years, its not worth overspending.

If he simply replaces his computers every three years, there's no point in making "itll be easier to upgrade later" decisions. Because you aren't doing that.

a good 1000w PSU will last ages, especially if you over spec and have loads of headroom. We've seen the trend of power usage increasing.
    1) Load the amount of weight I would deadlift onto the bench
    2) Unrack
    3) Crank out 15 reps
    4) Be ashamed of constantly skipping leg day

They said their current system is 3 years old, no specs. They didn't say theyre replacing in another 3 years. The sensible thing would be get a good, over specced PSU that sits at 50-60% max and can deal with the peaky power draws and keeping it for several builds. Saves money long run, and better for e-waste.

With ATX3.0/ATX12VO and new GPU power requirements on the horizon, buying an overspecced PSU for future builds is just terrible advice.

Also, the difference in decent modern PSUs between peak efficiency and efficiency at max rating is about 5% at worst.

A 750W or 850W PSU is more than sufficient.
