2022 Midterms are upon us. With important primaries starting on May 3rd.
The midterm elections won't take place until November, but the primaries that begin in earnest on Tuesday will frame Americans' choices on which direction the country takes.

The Senate race features several state politicians looking to out-Trump one another against Tim Ryan, the likely Democratic nominee and a former presidential candidate from Youngstown. Republicans are favored in a state that has trended red in recent election cycles. With a bunch of MAGA clones vying for the other spot. Money on JP Mandel.
At the House level, former President Donald J. Trump is backing Max Miller in the newly redrawn Seventh District. Cenk Uyger called the Ohio 10th primary the most "important in his life", hoping that bernout Nina Turner wins.

May 17 - Oregon

Representative Kurt Schrader, a long-serving moderate Democrat in the state’s Fifth District, is facing a strong primary challenge from Jamie McLeod-Skinner, a school board member who has drawn support from progressive groups and local Democratic officials. Tobias Read, the state treasurer, and Tina Kotek, a former State House speaker, lead the pack of Democrats hoping to replace Gov. Kate Brown, who is term-limited. There’s a crowded Republican primary as well, and Betsy Johnson, a former Democratic state senator, will run in the general election as an unaffiliated candidate. Oregon's courts rlued Nick Kristoff, carpet bagger and NYT gasbag as; INELGIBLE for failing to actually live in Oregon.

May 17- Pennsylvania

Open seats for Senate and governor. The Senate Republican primary includes the celebrity physician Dr. Mehmet Oz and a former hedge fund executive, David McCormick. On the Democratic side, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman is the early front-runner in a field that also includes Representative Connor Lamb. For governor, Democrats have Attorney General Josh Shapiro; the Republican primary has more than a dozen hopefuls and no clear front-runner.

May 24 - Georgia

Nowhere are there more elections to watch than in Georgia, despite all of the gerrymandering and ratfuckery. Senator Raphael Warnock and Stacey Abrams lead the Democratic field. Senator Warnock’s re-election bid for a full term in the seat he won last year is critical to Democrats’ hope of maintaining Senate control, former President Donald J. Trump endorsed his challenger, Herschel Walker.
Abrams is seeking to defeat Gov. Brian Kemp, the Republican who beat her by a small margin in 2018 — but first, Gov. Kemp will have to best David Perdue, the Trump-backed former senator, in the primary.

Pa is looking weird; Democrats cross their fingers in Pennsylvania

The top tier of the GOP field is comprised of TV personality Mehmet Oz, conservative commentator Kathy Barnette and businessman David McCormick — all of whom Democrats believe have potentially fatal flaws.

On the other hand, the shock has not yet faded in Democratic circles that the clear front-runner in their Senate primary, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, suffered a stroke on Friday at the age of 52.

Fetterman says he is on the road to recovery and that he did not “suffer any cognitive damage.” But the development, so close to the primary, has jangled Democratic nerves.

Pennsylvania gives the Democrats a rare chance to pick up a Senate seat at a time when the upper chamber is split 50-50. The seat is currently held by Sen. Pat Toomey (R), who is retiring.

Right now, almost all of the races for 5/17 primaries, have gone somewhat like the way they were planned.

As of right now, though Madison Cawthorn is losing in his Primary, but with only 37% of his district primary in. But Steve Kornacki is saying it is going to be hard for him to overcome the deficit he is under against his primary opponent.

With 40% in he needs an 11% swing in the last 60% of votes. That’s a pretty tall order.

Good, I hope that he loses, he claimed the "youngest" congressman when he won, he is going to be the first congressman, to win a seat, and instantly lose it after 1 term. And not even against a challenger from the opposing party, from his own party.

The average age people died was never 40. On average, most people died in their 60s-80s, just like now. What pulled the average life expectancy way down was the high childhood and especially infant mortality rate. And there were a whopping 15 one-term congressmen who lost in 2020, besides--three of whom were also Republicans who failed to secure renomination.

TLDR on the background is that NY Dems tried to do a better gerrymander and pick up seats, and a judge struck it down as unconstitutional (NY State Constitution). The current draft redraw pits a bunch of heavyweight Dems against each other.

Sean Patrick Maloney is current chair of DCCC. He announced for 17th district; he formerly was of the 18th. Establishment dude that runs House Democrats campaign org.
Mondaire Jones is the current 17th incumbent, and way more progressive.

Jerrold "Jerry" Nadler is a longtime rep and chair of the judiciary committee, running for the 12th.
Carolyn Maloney chairs the Committee on Oversight and Reform, also for the 12th.

Fireworks started when Jones accused Maloney of not even giving her a heads up on his decision to run in the primary for her seat. "And I think that tells you everything you need to know about Sean Patrick Maloney." Some Democrats privately wished he would just surrender his House career for the younger, Black freshman congresswoman.

Congressional districts have not been finalized. Voting is postponed by judicial decision to August 23rd.
