I wish I could feel bad for these experts Depp's team grills down. But all of them are being disingenuous at best and lying at worst. This all proves my point that I was talking about earlier on with how poor the cross was, they tried to focus on these pointless gotcha's, when it doesn't help Depp at all. And the current witness, they keep getting over ruled. It's a bad day for Depp, considering that first witness today.

I'm unsure if you're understand why they're going after these points. Depp's lawyers are trying to impeach Heard's witnesses by showing them to not be credible sources. Attacking their credentials would be a massive task, and it's much easier to attack their statements, their understanding of events, and showing inconsistencies between them to make people question whether the expert's opinion matters. What you see as a "gotcha" is seen by the jury as the witness contradicting themselves and the narrative Heard is presenting.

The guy who when asked if Marlon Brando used an earpiece, asked if he was dead and then after establishing he was said "No, he does not use one now"? That wasn't a joke. His unhinged behavior wasn't a joke. He's odd mannerisms, diagnosing Depp when having never met him, and comparing Depp's sworn testimony to Pirates of the Caribbean were not jokes. Hell, even if anyone did accept that they were jokes, and believed he wasn't a lunatic, telling jokes on the stand is a good way to impeach yourself as a witness. The jury has no reason to trust someone who doesn't take their position as an expert witness seriously.

Being the focus of mockery for making stupid statements will make the jury not believe you because it calls into question your credibility. Why would you ever believe someone who repeatedly makes a fool of themselves? There was even a point where he asked the judge if he had to answer questions, and had to be told that yes, he has to answer questions presented to him.
