Dracthyrs won’t be getting internally ripped apart by their own power, so they won’t need Deathwing-style armor plating. Dracthyr also won’t be mounts, so they won’t need that type of armor either.

How do you explain the armor that Dracthyr can already wear then?

Bruh, is it me or is teriz always hard defending blizzard on every decision?

Drakonid and dragonspawn wear armor. Those are the humanoid dragons. Dracthyr should also.

They are literally taking the easy way out of this, cause they dont want to mat the entire armor set on a new frame. The armor was already going to fit on bes and female humans as recolors like every raid. But this is lazy as hell. It should be the players choice on how little the player wants... not then

I don't give 2 shits about whether its lore appropriate or not. I want to run around as a dragon and I want to show off fancy armour I collect. The end.

When provided with examples of dragons donning armour, he legitimately said that dragons cease to be dragons if you sit on them. That just boggles the mind - call me uncreative, but I couldn't come up with something so ridiculous if I tried.

We all know that this has nothing to do with lore and everything to do with technical hurdles that they didn't take the time to explain (which was the correct choice for a teaser presentation). The texturing on the models (spikes, scales, etc.) and/or wings make it difficult to simply slap a new paintjob onto the Drac'thyr and have it look tolerable. I can completely understand if they don't give us the bodypoint armour and clothing. But if something uses a 3D model? That would "hover" above the skin and therefore avoid these issues? Toss those on.

And if it isn't feasible to give all the mail armour attention to make sure they're only showing the 3D parts or whatever? Fair enough. But going forward... make the effort.

For Evoker-specific gear, if nothing else.

Using Blizzard dev logic, their tier sets should be fitted perfectly for the model like heritage armor would. If it's exclusive to the race (and Evoker is only for Dracthyr) they should put in the effort for it to look good on their model. Like how they put in the effort for DH (and some legion leather) pieces to show off your tattoos.

Most mail armor probably will look like the second image, but's to be expected since they don't want to resize everything that ever existed. But tier sets? At the very least, they should do that. There is little excuse there to implement a race they know looks bad and just doesn't work well for customization.

Ahh. The old fallback, the ad hominem which boils down to "you're not a hater like me so you'd be fine with any crappy product." Thank you for proving you have no actual arguments.
The most difficult thing to do is accept that there is nothing wrong with things you don't like and accept that people can like things you don't.

Dracthyr are a player race, not an NPC. Player races wear visible armor while in their native form.

Alex is not a player character. Thus she does not wear armor. She's as removed from a player character as mounts and pets are by your own definition. You can't say fluff makes Dracthyr dragons but then go all dragons in armor don't count as dragons because of game mechanics.

If Dracthyr can't wear armor then its no different than a demon hunter or druid form, with the actual race being their 'visage'. At that point Dracthyr are even more removed from playable dragons, as the dragon form is just an ability of the reskinned Human/Elf. Same as how a pet isn't really an animal according to you.

Exactly! Half the point of RPGs is to get better gear and show it off. Why would they think players wouldn't want to see the rewards for their efforts? It's just a dumb decision that wasn't very well thought out.

Do they realize that there is literally no point in raiding on a dracthyr evoker if you can't even see what you earned? It's an alt, at best. And that is for the supposed headliner of the expansion. Not a great start at all.

Make mail armor work for dracthyr, even if it costs a raid tier. Dracthyr are forever, a raid tier is one patch. Do it right the first time, don't come back later with "we are changing it in 10.1.5 after listening to player feedback," change it now. Cut the problem off at the pass before it becomes another Covenant system in SL.

You can’t see armor on 3/4s of Druid specs, and they don’t have that problem.

Druid forms are class abilities. Dracthyr's dragon forms is their natural form. If we want to treat Dracthyr like druids, their Elf/Human form should be naked, and their Dragon form should be clothed.

Not that druids haven't complained about it forever.

Not enough to stop them from being the top picked class in the game, or from Blizzard to make their transmogs appear in beast form.

It's been a problem since beta, if not earlier. They haven't shut up about it since their mechanics were revealed. With good reason.

Like Dracthyr, Druids can’t see their armor in combat. Not much of a difference.

Again, Druid population numbers suggest otherwise.

So you are putting forth that people playing any given class have no issues with that class and fully endorse every design decision made for that class?

Seriously, it amazes me that anyone is campaigning for Dracthyr to NOT show mogs. We can already hide all but one piece. Those that want to run naked should campaign for the option to hide pants instead. Everyone wins :|

Litterally the reason that I dropped my original druid main.

The dracthyr form is actually the true form, while the visage form is the shapeshift. So if we are comparing to druids, it's the visage form that shouldn't be showing armor. Let the shapeshift visage form have the bargain bin thrift store barber shop customization options and let the true dracthyr form wear armor.

It's actually a bit pornographic to have humanoids running around buck naked 100% of the time.
