I mean Wrathion only threw a hissy-fit when Varian chose not to dismantle the Horde. And then used his friendship with Anduin as a means to lower his guard, letting him betray his trust, knock him out and free Garrosh. And then the events following merely caused the Legion to invade early and kill Varian. And then proceeded to do diddly-squat during the Legion invasion that he was supposedly making his master plans to foil. No biggie.

If I would still care about the story, I would probably say that this is an awful idea that is based on nothing but a few deranged shippers and their delusions. During the Shattering novel, while Anduin is visiting Ironforge (before Moira's takeover), he had some feelings toward Aerin Stonehand, one of the dwarves that Magni assigned to be his protector/escort during Anduin's visit.

Its more like an aunt to nephew bond.

She regards him a the little lion because she supposedly in the novel sees him like a sibling.

But the way I look at their dynamic is like a found nephew and aunt, because he tries to redeem her the entire expansion and eventually succeeds and when he finds himself loosing his way at the end, she helps him find it again.

I also think shes meant to represent the other side of his coin, he represents the light, hope, freedom, peace, and good will, while she represents selfishness and self-serving goals, in her redemption, shes finally found someone that can be better than her and thus the best way to help him, is to make him help himself.

Shes basically telling him to move on, that their time together is over, and that he needs to find his own path.

In essence, her story is over, Anduin's still hasnt reached its ending.
