I was looking forward to coming back to the game for some time but was pushed off due to crazy amounts of time gating and grind, but now I Hear it's much better so would like to come back.

That's recruit a friend, a totally different thing than this promotion they're doing.

You do know they have had "Recruit-a-Friend" for over a decade now right? That is basically what this is.

But the rewards aren't the same as in this promotion. You don't get a 30 day gametime pass for free and the inviter doesn't get a free faction change. The RAF program only works on new accounts or accounts that are up to 7 days old or something, can't use it on a full Shadowlands account, while the new promo works on all accounts that are in good standing (no bans etc).

So? The concept is the exact same. Changing the rewards does not change the concept.
