You can just say it, because that's literally what's happening.

    Arredondo isn't cooperating.
The mayor is responding to criticism of how officers handled the shooting by attacking TX DPS.
The city has hired a private lawfirm to fight legal public information requests.
The school boards response to the failure of their officers to do their jobs is...to propose hiring even more officers.
It took nearly a month for them to place Arredondo on leave - paid or unpaid - despite his fairly extensive failures during the shooting and his refusal to fully cooperate.

Literally everything they're doing makes it seem like they not only don't want to have any accountability, but that they're actively trying to suppress even worse information from coming out. Which is wild when you see how bad the information that's come out has been so far.

small towns in Texas are just about universally shitholes. This is no surprise to those of us who have had to deal with it.

Pete Arredondo has been placed on leave.

Anne Marie Espinoza, director of communications and marketing for the school district, would not confirm if the leave was paid or unpaid.

Communications and marketing. Speaking specifically to the marketing side of that description: basically to get people to go to school events/fundraisers. It was going to be a part of their job anyway, might as well make them feel special with a bigger job title.

It's your posts like this that I appreciate. I sometimes retreat into minutiae to escape some of the horror. Contextualizing the reality of this story into everyday life keeps it centered.

Of course they do. They get a great salary, pension, and health benefits that extend to their immediate family for life after retirement. Hell of a way to show that they matter. If the officers who cry blue lives matter don't appreciate all of that, they are welcome to seek a different career where they may feel they mattered more.

Which is why Blue Lives Matter as a slogan or movement is nothing but a childish "Marsha Marsha Marsha" response to a community of people who felt their lives were disposable in the eyes of the authorities.

    Indeed.

I wonder if a tight community like this has some other dirty laundry that's about to come out. Most people don't know it, but embezzlement is still a very big thing, and small corrupt towns are especially good at it. The Mayor's behavior surround this unspeakable horror has been the opposite of what would be expected. The Police Chief failed, utterly, completely, and objectively. And instead of doing all the things to open and expand an investigation, the Mayor shuts down all cooperation with authorities and swears the Police Chief onto City Council (a spot the Cowardly Police Chief had already won, but had not yet taken, when this happened).

Just a few decades later. Still valid.
But soon after Mr Xi secured a third term, Apple released a new version of the feature in China, limiting its scope. Now Chinese users of iPhones and other Apple devices are restricted to a 10-minute window when receiving files from people who are not listed as a contact. After 10 minutes, users can only receive files from contacts.
Apple did not explain why the update was first introduced in China, but over the years, the tech giant has been criticised for appeasing Beijing.

It's been raised before in this thread. Whether there was corruption, graft or fraud in Uvadle or not, I suspect every carbon-based life form within six degrees of separation from this is double-checking everything they signed for the last few years. It would be trivial to look at a small, sleepy town given $XXX dollars to fight against school shootings and say "well that'll never happen here...so...nobody will notice if I..."

And yes, while it is negative to think of people in that way, especially after a tragedy...the police training didn't work, the school shooting drills didn't work, and the locks didn't work. If all of that was by accident, then we just have a massive display of incompetence that got children murdered. Tragic. Beyond tragic. But at least it wasn't malice. If any of that was on purpose, I hope they find out who, get the proof, and let him revisit his life choices for a generation behind bars.

cops harassing the parents who spoke out (like the lady who went in to save her kids). Absolute rats.

They shouldn't though. Or to be more precise, they should matter less than the lives of any civilian who at this moment is no threat to others, because of their assumed purpose was true, their purpose which each individual member volunteered to join should be to protect others.

Naturally, we all know that the true purpose of the police is to protect the rich and further americas goal of black genocide, with their rewards being the privilege to murder, pillage and rape as they like. So no, blue lives don't matter because murderer lives shouldn't matter, pillager lives shouldn't matter and rapists lives shouldn't matter either.

Yeah they do, and no one is saying otherwise. But they willingly put their own lives on the line to protect and serve the public. That's literally in their fucking job description. They know what they signed up for.

Just as with any other profession, the line "do your fucking job" is applicable even if doing that job will end with blue lives being lost...they literally signed up for that possible unfortunate eventuality. The children in this situation didn't.

Apparently nobody is responding to records requests, Uvalde, Texas, or even the Feds.

Seriously, what the fuck are they so desperate to hide? Did the cops fuckin shoot a kid?
