This is generally what happens if the person running never plans on running for public office again. That drunk judge on fox news has had campaign debt for almost a decade. She's never going to pay it back.

More on, "Why are liars and grifters and thieves so often Republicans?", we welcome back our friend and one-term member of the House Madison Cawthorn.

More in the link. But I can't say anyone is likely surprised. This is the guy elected to the Legislature, who didn't have a legislative director because he had no interest in legislating...you know, his job.

But hey, if he wants to burn more Republican donors and make them distrust the kind of people running for office in the party, go for it. If someone was dumb enough to donate to his campaign to begin with, they deserved to lose that money no matter what.

We could mention many problems with the money in politics here. But hey I have to point out to the good ole "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" crowd. If Cawthorne is personally liable for hundred of thousands in debt and can't pay then he should be responsible. I guess I'm not familiar with him being able to protect him personally such as an LLC or whatever. Yet this dude should pay back all the money.

I read comments above now about campaign protections and yeah its again, "you poor mother effers better pay that $500 you owe to your mobile provider" yet people taking blowing thru large cache of money is fine. I mean I guess its donated and big corporations just right it off as a loss. I mean if you can bribe a Congressional member for $10k to get a multi-billion dollar bill pass its pretty good ROI.

Trump apparently wanted to give himself the Congressional Medal of Honor and threw a tantrum when he was told no.

I dare Trump worshipping cultists to defend this one, that Trump wanted to degrade the highest honor our country can reward to its men and women in uniform to stroke his own ego.

Also, apparently Republican insiders are worried that JD Vance is running the worst possible Senate campaign he could be and could blow the race for the GOP.

The spectacle of Vance gushing in Tel Aviv about Israel’s high birth rates—to a friendly audience stocked with plenty of conservatives but almost certainly no Ohio voters—seemed to distill for some Republicans everything that’s wrong with his campaign right now.
...what the fuck? I assume this is related to some great replacement white supremacist bullshit, but like...what the fuck?

It's probably trying to suck up to evangelical Christians given their apocalypse porn requires Israel to exist for Jesus to return, at which point the Jews are given the choice of converting to Christianity or going to Hell.

People were snarking on Twitter that Vance should have been visiting Jerusalem, Ohio rather than Israel.

Hey People! They are saying the quit part out loud. Well, is it even quiet these days.

Marge Greene: “We need to be the party of nationalism. I’m a christian, and I say it proudly - we should be christian nationalists.”

    Vid embedded.

Fascism is her folks!! Oh yeah its tied to the ideology of the "R" word. I know we can't discuss, but it is their identity. Look at Roe v Wade.

For those who make fun of MTG i have a link below.

This is the line to meet Marjorie Taylor Greene at TPUSA’s student summit.

The Vid embedded shows a line of meet and greeting waiting for MTG. Yes this is at the crazy convention where people will stand in line they represent a sizable enough people who will make a Fascist play for our government. Formerly the Republican Party.

It’s possible he might have some sugar daddy bail him out. He still had a decent show of support.

On the other hand, most of the rest of the GOP threw him under the bus because of the whole orgy thing and his poor ass corpse is being left out to dry as a lesson to everyone else.

Who'd have thought dry humping your "cousin" in the face wouldn't pay well. Who knew?

Oh this is the perfect shitshow. Him preaching to Israeli people about having more kids and the his white nationalist base who hates Jewish people cause they believe Jewish people are supporting the Great Replacement Theory of the "inferior" races be letting into the country and having many children over the white race.

And speaking of MTG being one of the worst people currently in politics at this moment: To bandwagon off of the Republicans' latest scaremongering about Groomers, MTG made a tweet about the rising cases of Monkypox, specifically in children, with a 'Golly, how could this disease that we've been falsely attributing to the promiscuity of gay men have ended up in these children~?' dogwhistle.

Calling this woman a raging idiot is honestly doing her absolute malice a disservice. She's a wicked, vile piece of shit.

The Party of Trump supports winners, not whiners. That's why Trump hasn't stopped shrilling about winning in 2020. So I hope you're wrong, but the Party of Trump is insane, so it's anyone's guess.

I've said it before and I'll repeat it again; the maxim to "never ascribe to malice what can be adequately explained by stupity" only served to help brush the overwhelming malice of a hell of a lot of people under the rug, for decades.

Presume malice, not stupidity. If they're too stupid to know any better, is it really meaningfully different from malice, anyway?

It's malicious people leading stupid people into being malicious, so yeah it's functionally the same goddamn thing when they're both pushing this bullshit.

PolitiFact picked up a good one.

So Trump had something to say about Alaska's ranked-choice voting system. Naturally, what he said was partially opinion and the rest objectively false.

So-and-so had five votes for fifth place so we are going to give them the victory. It’s crazy, it’s crazy. And you know who got it put in? Lisa Murkowski got it put in.

She knew she could not win a straight-up election. So she went for crazy ranked choice. You never know who won in ranked choice. You could be in third place. They announced that you won the election. It’s a total rigged deal just like a lot of other things in this country.
"Wait, how did Murkowski, a US Senator, change Alaska law?"

Good catch, voice in my head. Yeah, that should be your second clue that Trump has no idea what he's talking about. (First is "he's Trump")

The rest of his statements on the subject are just word salad with a dribble of ignorance sauce. For one, Alaska voters only pick their top four choices. So, there are no votes for fifth place. They don't exist. For two, Alaska isn't the only state/voting area where ranked choice exists. Maine has it, for example. So does Virginia. You can read this WaPo article on the subject. You'll notice it's a year old.

This alaska-dot-gov site details how Alaska's ranked choice voting works. There's another name for it, "plurality with elimination" which I hate because it sounds like it's shitting on someone, but the fact is it's a non-subjective system. Unless you hack the machines -- Alaska has a paper trail, good luck -- or have a conspiracy of election officials to just flat-out lie, it's as numerically valid as any other system. There is no randomness, there is no opinion on the subject. Nobody is "given" a win, they earn it through voters.

Which, incidentally, is how Alaska got this election system. The voters voted on it. And Alaska's highest court, Court Denali, has as recently as January ruled that it's still legal.

Also, Trump has once again accused a state of voter fraud with no evidence. And isn't Alaska Republican? Why attack them? Oh, right, because he doesn't like someone.

Trump said ranked choice voting in Alaska is a "total rigged deal."

Trump is free to dislike ranked choice voting, but his characterization is wrong. Ranked choice voting is a legal way to conduct elections, and the voters’ choices rule. Alaska has a history of secure and transparent elections run by bipartisan teams, and that structure doesn’t go away with ranked choice voting.

In 2020, Trump laid the groundwork for blaming his loss on a "stolen" and "rigged" election — statements we found ridiculous. He is using a similar approach here in his efforts to denounce a senator who supported his impeachment after the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol.

We rate this statement Pants on Fire.

The simple response to her would be "a Christian minister must have gotten infected and spread it to all the little children."

    https://nypost.com/2022/07/22/trumps...24-reelection/

Even the Murdoch-owned New York Post "editorial board" (lol) is turning on Trump following the hearings so far. It's short and a quick read but here -

It’s up to the Justice Department to decide if this is a crime. But as a matter of principle, as a matter of character, Trump has proven himself unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again.
I fully expect the NY Post to endorse Trump should he run in 2024, despite this editorial and this line.

Don't bother with the comments, they're not quite as bad as Fox from the few I've read but they're still largely utter trash.

Yah but where in the paper did, they burry this little opinion?

I am guessing they won't endorse him, but they will remain silent on actually choosing anyone.

It won't happen. Vance could get on TV and say he hasn't been wasting his time in Ohio because nobody there matters, and he'd still be elected with a commanding margin. I don't think there's anything he could possibly do that would change that.

Is joe even planning on running for a second term? Only way I could see him winning is if joe or clinton are put against him.
