The only people who legit make a big deal about it are pissant game journos who think that POC and female characters don't exist in video games and believe that straight white dudes hate representation in games, despite the fact that Samus and Lara are probably two of the most well known video game characters next to Mario, Sonic and Master Chief in terms of exposure in pop culture outside of gaming.

Honestly, I don't see why they wouldn't just have multiple character choices, it's pretty bog standard these days to have options.

The game will shatter the weekend revenue record for a media launch still held by GTAV. Rockstar has never released a "trash" game their last release in 2018 is one of the most universally praised games of all time and over 43 million units sold even without having GTA branding on it lol.

Game series that has made fun of american policing, gun culture, capitalism, oppression of marginalized groups etc over it history is now woke cause they have a female protag and removed distasteful jokes about trans people. Why is it a 180 just because they won't put up a Confederate flag? Doesn't it stand to reason that a for-profit company like Rockstar is making this move with the intended goal of expanding the audience and selling even more copies?

Those companies respective struggles have little to do with "woke" and more to do with other factors, including global economic realities. Meanwhile, none of them have "gone broke" and most are still financial powerhouses.

In your world where we are only allowed to laugh at over privledged people of the world like fat white characters like cartman from South park and characters like timmy are insensitive because he's in a wheel chair.
