I mean, gz to them, no question it was legit and all, but...

This was a bit of a non-race. When half the top contenders can't really play for considerable amounts of time in a short race like this, it kind of becomes a little bit of a non-contest.

It's like having a marathon race, but half the contestants got held captive for 30 minutes in the middle of it. Sure whoever came first did in fact win, but was it REALLY a competition.

World First doesnt mean crap, never did. Everyone who gets it either exploits their way, or uses a group of op aoe classes. No ones ever gotten world first playing by themselves using their own skill.
If what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Then I should be a god by now.

Really bad take. It takes a TON of skill to get a world-first. Being in a team doesn't change that. Just because you're in a team doesn't mean your skill doesn't matter somehow - in fact it's arguably more difficult, because you have more points of failure. You need to coordinate things, set up communications properly, etc. etc. That's all so much extra work you'd never have to do as a solo, where you can just cruise-control without having to worry about coordination.

And also: this is teams vs. teams. It's still a fair competition, because the top contenders all have the same tools available to them (in theory anyway, obviously this time around not everyone was affected by the tech issues the same way). Sure it doesn't leave solo players much of a chance to compete, but that's the nature of the game: you do what you have to in order to win, and if you CHOOSE not to, then you lose the right to complain. You are absolutely 100% fine playing the way you want, you just don't really have justification to try and make other people play your way. Or, alternatively, you can find people who DO want to play that way, and have your own competition.

Meanwhile over half the playerbase can't even login or stay online. Solid launch.

Planning it is part of the challenge.

Level 70? Big whoop. I remember when I had like 30 level 120's.

would the same argument be made if Liquid gets WF in the first Tier, before EU servers come up?

saying oh its not really a WF when there are no contenders.

Nobody would say "it's not really a WF", just like nobody is saying "it's not really a WF" now. It *is* a WF, everyone has acknowledged that; just as they would for Liquid in your case.

But just as here, a WF race that's over before the competition gets to even start isn't REALLY a race. That doesn't mean it's not a WF, it just means it wasn't REALLY a race.

There's a big difference between "this wasn't really a competition" and "you didn't really win". Those are not the same thing.

Extreme example would be a win by default somewhere; let's say Chess. If there was a Chess world championship match between Nakamura and Carlsen, and before they sat down Carlsen had a heart attack and died, Nakamura would win by default. No one would say he "didn't win" - because he did; but everyone would say "this wasn't a competition" - because it wasn't.

    What? How old are you?

No...it doesn't take skill to group mobs up and AoE them down to world first. It takes luck and determination.

Since you clearly have no idea about how actual WF works, why even bother writing this?

This is the classic "guy sitting in his armchair yelling at the TV how easy it is to 'just hit the ball'".

Database error appeared. There was no entry under the client "Dragonflight" in 2007.

It doesn't really take a lotta skill to mass pull and aoe. Nor does it take a lotta skill to have a group tag mobs in wrath then run out of the instance so you get full exp. Nor does it take a lot of skill to group up mobs to trap people on the mop intro quest...

It's not a skill thing. You can argue it's a preparedness thing but not skill.

I find it funny how every expansion WF level cap is something insane (like sub 2 hours), yet later on the expansion nobody (excluding boosting communities) bothers to do that and levels in dungeons. Even WF raiders are leveling their characters normally - why not just boost through in 90min as you are leveling like 6-7 characters anyway?

Nobody in this thread has even mentioned Dragonflight until you did. So the response was perfectly valid. World First 70 was in 2007.

Imagine being this much of a pedant that you ignore context, reason, and common sense.
