There is no cut to the amount of money people are getting from SNAP, just what they can buy. There is no cut cost savings, in fact, just the opposite, the only change is that even MORE perfectly good food goes in the trash.

Can republicans just cut to the chase and propose a bill letting then hunt poor people for sport? It would honestly just save us all some time and energy not having to pretend that's not their end goal.

It wouldn't be beneficial to Republican politicians in Kentucky, Mississippi, and Alabama if they started outright killing their voters.

You don't think they could spin poor people selling themselves into blood sport arenas as a job program?

Well I was going to argue that they just might be smart enough to figure out that they're likely going to die and protest being put into such a position. Then I remembered how they react to COVID vaccines. You win this round.

Why are conservatives always so proud in how little they know, while always so confident in blaming the wrong people?

Everyone involved counts as a bureaucrat. Yes rep legislators too though its a stretch to assume everything they wave through was their own idea. Also stuck in binary thinking. He doesn't support me he must be conservative. Always baiting to get flamed.

Be specific, my dude. It was elected Republican politicians. Not some "faceless bureaucrat" that Republicans love to complain about and want to fire.

    Republicans are proposing this.

    Republicans.

Oi, whose idea was it if not the literal Republicans that proposed it?

Bro, it wasn't that long ago that Fox News was complaining about how the majority of people on food stamps had microwaves and some kind of AC unit. And conservatives were spreading it all over social media like it was some kind of major gotcha against welfare. It was even on this very forum back before the right wingers went mask off and got banned. Their line was that microwaves and AC were a LUXURY.

Someone calling all government officials bureaucrats is probably one of the most conservative things I've read on these forums in awhile.

Generalized because its a general issue with bureaucrats that goes beyond this topic. Basically old rule applies vs this is new and unknown territory. Also im the true centrist chosen one - on that political chart quiz perfect center not like some posers who say centrist but fall to one or the other side. Jokes aside you can take this thread as an example - i wrote already in initial post no meat buy tuna is likely scam and sensible points are bait to pass it. Thats not a pro rep take. Its a moderate take with negative connotation. Its just people are so rabid here about he didnt say all bad against rep it gets ignored.

I'm sure that fancy things like "AC" and "Microwaves" and "refrigerators" were considered luxury items only the middle class and up were expected to have... back in the 1950s, when these people's political ideologies were instantiated.

You say that, but it's not. You're desparately trying to "both sides" this sooooooo hard.

It doesn't make sense from that standpoint either. White bread is unhealthy, but canned beans aren't in the vast majority of cases, and canned meat is magnitudes worse than fresh meat.

Considering this is a discussion about a proposed change to SNAP benefits in America, yes, I'm discussing this from an American point of view.

If you always want to change the topic so badly create your own threads. It's not my fault you come in with terrible arguments and have to pivot to a different topic.

I don’t need to live in multiple countries to see you are a cruel misanthrope.

I dont change topics, you get stuck on details instead of staying on topic to get a gotcha moment and then complain when you get replies like now...

I have to ask but what is even their argument. The intent is simply cruelty of course but they must have presented some argument.

Nope, it is a federal program, all SNAP changes have to go through the department of agriculture, since almost every farm bill has the SNAP part added to it.

    https://bestpractices.nokidhungry.or...nd%20SNAP%2DEd.

Only the US congress can change this, not the Iowa congress, and the Secretary of Agriculture and Congress determines what SNAP benefits can and cannot be used on. Since this is not in the Iowa Budget, they cannot change it.

    - - - Updated - - -

Just to clarify for everyone still arguing, the IOWA Congress cannot change this program, as it is a federal funded program with the farm bill. The morons in the Iowa legislature cannot change what it can and can't be used on.
