Changes in 10.0.5 to Item Upgrades
We have a few adjustments to item upgrades in patch 10.0.5 that we want to outline and clarify.
War Mode and Primal Storms gear are no longer be upgradeable by trading gear and upgrade currency (Trophies of Strife, Storm Sigils) at the previous vendors (Malicia in the Gladiator’s Refuge and Rethelshi in the Sapphire Enclave). These items now use the other item upgrade vendors that Valor, Honor, and Conquest gear have used, such as Corxian in the Gladiator’s Refuge.
War Mode and Primal Storms gear obtained at level 70 prior to this patch will still be upgradeable. However, War Mode gear obtained pre-level 70, before the patch, will not be upgradeable.
- New pre-level 70 gear obtained after the 10.0.5 patch went live will be upgradeable.
There’s a bug fix in patch 10.0.5 that made The Drakebreaker’s Breastplate now cost 10 Trophies of Strife to upgrade. This was done to make it consistent with other chest pieces.

What godawful prick thought it would be a good idea to screw over alts and casual players? I still had 4 pieces left to upgrade because of the Storm Sigil time gating. Can't upgrade anything right now.

You can still upgrade them, you just need to go to a different person. Ask a guard in Valdrakken for the Item Upgrade NPC. Its in the hall with the PvP vendors. you can upgrade there same as before
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Incorrect. I have tested it with the old items and a newly bought item. Both say they can't be upgraded.

I got the same issue. All the 359 items I bought on Monday says "can no longer be upgraded" So I bought a new 359 belt and it says "can no longer be upgraded". This is from Corxian. Originally Posted by Gorsameth

Upgrading was blocked due to an exploitable bug i believe.

Seems like they might have fixed it. After not working all morning I was just able to upgrade an item I bought today.
I found I enjoyed the game significantly more when I stopped paying attention to all the people on the forums telling me how much I am supposed to hate itAll this complaining is simply further proof that Blizzard could send each and every player a real-life wish-granting flying unicorn carrying a solid gold plate of chocolate chip cookies wrapped in hundred dollar bills, and someone would whine that Blizzard sucks for not letting them choose oatmeal raisin.
