We also held a live Q&A session where players could field questions directly to our developers.

Play the Open Beta, Lead the Pack
As mentioned in the livestream, a cache of unique rewards can be earned as you play Diablo IV during the Open Beta and Early Access weekends. Showcase your wanderer’s prowess at saving Sanctuary by collecting all three. Players who unlock these Open Beta rewards will receive them on June 6 once Diablo IV launches.

a shitton of people won't get that reward. No way they gonna be able to have the servers stable enough for everyone to easily reach level 20. Most people gonna be in a queue nightmare the entire weekend

Indeed. I personally don't care about some titles and a cosmetic, but I can imagine some people will care and not being able to get it because the servers are shitting themselves and/or there are massive queues is just dumb in my opinion.

from the closed beta i think it is entirely possible, the leveling is on a curve which is rly fast in early levels but slows down later, i think 20 is like 2 hours, and of course the open open beta wont be until after the pre order weekend where they will fix any issues hopefully

Yeah, I doubt the XP curve is going to be much different. If anything, it'll be slightly faster to get to 20 than the closed beta since it's based around the storyline progression. However, they haven't 'openly' tested the storyline quests since the F&F alpha, and I still have memories of the WoD launch on Horde side where the garrison bug prevented anyone from questing normally... so anything's possible.

IIRC, just getting to Kyovashad and level 20 shouldn't really spoil much of anything since the major lore action takes place later. Been a while so I can't recall exactly, but worst case just don't read or listen to any dialogue and follow quest markers.

It's actually less about the lore for me, and mostly about the gameplay. But yeah it's probably more work to try and avoid spoilers than to just accept there's tons of info, and metagaming will be massive. That's just what it is for games like this.
Sounds like they want to incentivize people to pre-order D4 so that they can get some money in the bank, but rewarding people with silly cosmetics is low.

How would they do that?
All rewards are obtainable on the OpenBeta Weekend. So no Prepurchase is needed.
In fact, I was considering prepurchasing the game, bc i will buy it anyway and i wanted to play one week earlier.
But they announced that in the early access Beta you can just play the Barbarian, Rogue and Sorcerer. But i wanted to play the Druid, so i probably won't prepurchase it now for the earlier access Beta.
On the Open Beta weekend, you have access to all classes, so i will wait for that.

Doubt it, the pre-order Beta will have a much smaller amount of people where things will likely be stable, but once the gates open for everyone the servers will go to shit, as evidenced by ... you know .. every single game or open beta that blizzard has ever released.

That's exactly how ... if you pre-order you'll have an extra weekend to play. An extra weekend that will likely be much more stable.

They will have basically 4 days, it should be fine.

The beta is free you don't need to preorder.
Btw for anyone who wants in the week early, but don't wanna pre-purchase, there is that KFC promo. So like 4$ for a sandwich and get into beta.

That's a given. They couldn't even manage season 28 of diablo III properly.

It’s not 2 hours but if you rush “for the sake of the rewards” it will be some time between 5 and 10.

S28 queues were due to the fact that the seasonal theme is “opness” plus D3 servers are the same since ages. They won’t invest money in a dead game just to give people no queues for the 3 starting days in a season that lasts 4 months minimum and most players will stop playing after 2/3 weeks.
