Holystrike, Radiant and the Ret Mastery

What's the deal with those new damage schools ? I mean how will they interact with Ret mastery ?

I know that holystrike = physical + holy and radiant is fire + holy, but what's the point with modifying them ? why not just skip those talents and stack mastery, since most of our damage is already holy ?

Or Am I missing something ?

Pretty much everything will now be holy damage so mastery is just another versatility. Honestly they should have changed the mastery as well.

Actually Holystrike will be applied to judgement, cs, hammer and every HP consuming ability, if we pick the "Blades of Light" talent, which means they will deal physical+holy damage.

Now why would anyone pick that talent, when we already deal full holy damage that bypass armor ? IMHO it's bad in PvP and PVE, unless we can't stack mastery.

Again, maybe I'm missing how holystrike works.

You are just not understanding how it works. First not all those ability deal holy damage. Second multi damage abilities get to pick which type of damage it does on a target to do the most damage. Example someone has negative armor, holy strike would be calculated as physical. Something has a magic only shield, damage is physical. It also increase your scaling with buff, everything holy strike is increase by holy damage increases, at the same time increased by physical damage increase. Because it count as both at once.

Its a straight upgrade to anything you did. Even if you had 0 mastery. But its even better because of it because when it deals physical damage, its physical damage increased by mastery. And when its holy damage, its holy damage that also benefit from any physcal damage buff and debuff.

So you are incorrect its a case of nobody will ever not pick this.

Great then if it works like this, by picking the lowest resistance path, thanks for the explanation.

Meaning rogues cloak won't be effective at all vs palas?
