I believe so, the holiday achievements are designed for the highest level players.

Hold the phone, on the link posted it seems to come from Oculus still and Lord Godfrey in Shadowfang Keep just his level is 21? What is up with this? Also can it only be done in heroic or in normal?

So its that time of year again!
The winter viel has started, and its the last world event i need to do before i get my proto drake! so im frantically trying to get it done.

Last night i was doing HC SFK. the hat drops from the last boss however i did not win the roll.

I then remembered you can get it off of the older bosses... so that got me thinking,

But can anyone confirm for me, that if i try to go do these bosses the hat will drop for me, even though im level 85?

Yes you can go and farm regular nexus for your hat. Grab a 2-3 man group and go blow through to Telestra, exit reset. Rinse repeat.

The hat drops pretty much everywhere, now. I got one from the first boss in HoO normal.

The denizens of the dungeons of Northrend are also getting into the holiday spirit, and some dungeon bosses even wear festive Winter Hats just like Greatfather Winter's. Defeat a Winter Veil boss, and the boss' hat is yours!

Winter Veil bosses of Northrend:

* Grand Magus Telestra (The Nexus) - Red Winter Hat
* Jedoga Shadowseeker (Ahn'Kahet: The Old Kingdom) - Red Winter Hat
* Mage-Lord Urom (The Oculus) - Green Winter Hat

Cataclysm Winter Veil bosses

* Deadmines (Heroic) - Admiral Ripsnarl
* The Stone Core (Normal + Heroic) - High Priestess Azil
* Blackrock Caverns (Normal + Heroic) - Corla, Herald of Twilight
* Shadowfang Keep (Heroic) - Lord Godfrey
* Grim Batol (Normal + Heroic) - Drahga Shadowburner

Blizzard's blue post is misleading. You need to do Heroics in Northrend to get the hat.

I've run both of those dungeons on normal (for other reasons not really for the hat) and it never dropped. Heard the same news from many other players on my server. I'm assuming the same is true for "Ahn'Kahet: The Old Kingdom". Personally, I wish they would have allowed you to queue for the event like they've done for all the other ones recently. I don't know why they decided not to do that for Winter Veil.

Actually you no need friends to do that. I just did solo Grand Magus Telestra in Nexus hc as 84 lvl BM hunter with bear.
