My brother was banned for being a second account yet it's his first.

As the title states. My brother, username rhunes, was banned yesterday for apparently being an alt account/and or ban evasion. As of this post he has not received any reply to his ban thread.

In his words this is the first account he has made on mmo-champ. He also just created a thread stating that these forums need more moderators. Could he have been targeted by the mods for this? He did a simple search for his name on these forums and found there is another user called Rhune who was created in 2007. He says this isn't him and has no affiliation with this person.

Also to note we share an apartment.

Every time I've been banned for 3 days (aka reaching the 15 infraction point limit) and I have appealed on the ban/infraction, I have never gotten a response of any kind before the ban lifts automatically after 3 days.

Ive always gotten a reply to tell me they won’t take back the infraction. If it’s Darth he will berate next as well.

Many times people are banned, it is unjustified. At least in my experience in WoW, you can be banned for ridiculous reasons. If enough people report you in a small amount of time, you'll automatically get punished. My most recent experience was being chat banned for afking on a large mount next to a quest giver. Came back, typed "Oops" and was immediately chat banned for "verbal abuse"

So yeah, it's very possible that being banned IS unjustified.

If you share apartment you most likely have same internet and thus IP, right? That could be why they think its alt account.

Yeaaaaaaa they don't look at only your username when banning someone dude.....

This is pretty likely the cause. They don't allow multiple accounts for a single person, and two accounts sharing an IP looks like that at first glance. If you've got an appeal up on his account that hasn't been closed and responded to by the mods (which can take days, yes; they want a solid number of mods to look at it and give their assessment), make a post explaining that you live in the same house and ask them to compare posting conduct; if you're not posting in similar ways, it's pretty obvious you're two different people. And if neither of you are banned, there's no ban to be evading, either (which is the usual reason people make a second account).

Honestly, the number of times it's "we're actually two people at the same IP" is way lower than the number of times it's "same guy, new account, getting around a ban".
