Because that would be like adding a Wildhammer race while Dwarves have Wildhammer customization options. It's a waste of a feature.

You mean exactly what they did with Dark Irons as a race even though we had Dark skin dwarves with red hair in Cataclysm? You're implying double standards that already exist as examples in WoW. No different than Void Elf being playable variations of Blood Elves for the Alliance, which can also be implied as a waste of a feature since they went out of their way of adding new racials and visuals to do so, even though anyone who wants a 'High Elf' could already be playing a Blood Elf. Doesn't mean the feature is unwarranted, does it?

Hardly a Dark Iron representation. Though, it is an attempt.

As for Void elves, they are definitely a different race. The High elf option for both factions was due to the outstanding demand for them - not their original plan.

Class Skins is not part of the original plan either. Nor are Allied Races for that matter. It's all in favour of providing more customization options that we otherwise would not have. That's all really.

The only way to discuss a progression of their original plan is to talk about Classic Plus, really. Back when classes literally had only one viable Raiding spec, one viable PVP spec, and add to that type of design. Modern WoW resembles very little of that original plan, and their choice to balance 36 specs is in the way of adding many new class options.

Doesn't cover my concern of overlapping features.

That's your concern to deal with, really. Not a fault of the feature itself.

Overlap already exists a fair amount in WoW.
