Kids are not stupid. He will soon realize that you are making him do this because it's a chore you don't want to do yourself. Once he knows that, you will have lost part of your credibility as a parent that is supposed to protect him and look out for him.

That's why it is not a good idea.

It's ok. Similiar to sending them to their room or stare in the corner or whatever parents do nowadays when they can't beat children .

Had a guildie with like 3yo daughter that actually enjoyed fishing for him btw.

On a more serious note, fishing is WAY more fun than archeology. WAY.
Aww hell no, watching a bob all the time is way more boring then digging stuff up, making an item is always a bit exciting since you might get an expensive grey or a rare. But with fishing...oh another fish, did not see that coming.

Oh OT Pretty strange punishemnt but if it works...

I wish I had a brat to level my fishing for me. It's something to remember for the future. Kid acting up? Make him grind for you.

As opposed to sending the kid to a corner for 15 minutes? He's basically doing the same thing, but in this case, the punished child does something productive with his punishment time.

You say "protect and look out for him". The kid is being punished. As in, he did something dumb, so he must pay for his crime. They guy isn't beating the crap out of his child and he's not scarring his child's mind. You react as if the person has his kid sort his porn records. It IS a very good idea, actually. It's time out time where the child has something to look at, meaning he won't try to escape the sheer boredom of sitting in a corner staring at paint. Stop over reacting.
