    Need to be mobile

    My job takes me all over the place so I'm restricted to a laptop. Any suggestions on building a cost effective laptop with decent or better than decent graphics. Any suggestions on manufactured models that won't break the bank?

    These can all play a lot of games @ 1080p rather than 1366x768.

    The Geforce GT 555m shouldn't have any problem with games being released by the end of this year on medium settings. That being said, there is a 1 gig and 2 gig 555m model which unfortunately the Lenovo only has the 1 gig version. The hard drive on the Lenovo is only 5400 and although 7200 isn't an incredible increase, its noticible. An SSD would put both to shame however, so an upgrade might be nice. If I were looking at a Geforce GT 555m to play any kind of current/next gen game release, i'd look to Asus or Alienware. With Alienware, the M11x, although small, packs a powerful punch performance and gaming wise. Its small form factor allows it to be the perfect portable gaming machine. Next up would be the M14x, which, like the M11x, features a customizable gpu option for the GT 555m which should upgraded to the 2 gig version.

    Considering the Lenovo wasn't exactly designed for gaming, I would skip it if your intentions are MW:3, BF:3, Skyrim, or SW:TOR. Save up a little over $1000 and get yourself a machine that was really intended for gaming!

    The 2gig version would be a waste... that laptop only has a 1366x768 screen.
    And with that low resolution it can play games at higher settings than it would at 1080p.
    BF3/Skyrim will be tougher, probably medium or medium-high instead of ultra... but sw:tor should be playable on maxed or nearly-maxed settings.

    The two best laptops that taek suggested are currently out of stock. The Asus laptop with a GTX460m is a really nice deal, but it is most likely not coming back in stock. Alternatively, you can get that Lenovo laptop with a 555m, it is a pretty decent graphics card considering the price of the laptop. Most games should play on high settings without a problem considering that the laptop isn't 1080p, which takes a lot of stress off the GPU.
