    Lightbulb [Suggestion] Heirloom Journal

This video is from the Open Q&A Panel at BlizzCon 2011

    ** WATCH THE VIDEO FROM 8:00-9:27 **
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOILEkAnXvU

    Q. Will we ever be able to send heirlooms cross-server?
    A. Maybe some day! Probably not in the immediate future. The databases dont do the best job of talking to eachother right now.

But the interesting thing is what Greg Street "Ghostcrawler" said. In short, he basically want Heirloom to become "spells" (like mounts and pets). This whould mean; no more sending Heirlooms via mail, and it would make it easier (for Blizzard) to share them across realms on the same Battle.Net Account.

So after watching this I made a suggestion of how this could look like in-game:

I call it the Heirloom Journal Enjoy!

So... let me explain what this is:

    - Heirlooms are now spells!

    - When you buy a Heirloom you get a consumable item in your inventory (like with mount and pets), you than use this item, and it showes up in your Heirloom Journal.

    - Your Heirloom Journal is shared among ALL characters on the same Battle.Net Account.

    - Heirlooms can no longer be sent via mail.

    - Simply open the Journal on one of your characters and equip the Heirlooms you want!

    - The slots covered by a red sign means that no heirlooms exist for that slot.

    - Press the small botton in the top right (under Search) to instantly unequip all Heirlooms.

    - Heirlooms can no longer be deleted.

    - Use the same Heirloom on as many characters you want!

What do you think? would you prefer this over the system we have today?

A suggestion for a new leveling zone in Quel'Thalas:

whoa, that's pretty cool. there may still be technical issues though. are spells transferable cross-realm?

how would you account for people who have two of the same hierloom piece w/ different enchants on them

the two Heirlooms would simply merge (since you now can use the same Heirloom on as many characters you like)

this change would probably mean; no more enchants on Heilooms (to make it a bit more ballanced between people with Heirlooms and without Heirlooms)

The only issue would be the fact that Blizzard is milking those 100-200 players per year for 25$ per character transfer for heirlooms.
100$ for the game and 15$ per month isn't enough.

I can't possibly imagine that happens all that often...

and if so, the player has decided that the 25 dollars is worth less than being able to level just a little bit faster anyway. Strange as it may sound, people did reach the level cap without heirlooms at one time.

What about heirloom gear that's been enchanted? I have two of the heirloom robes, one with +Mana and one with +Health. For leveling solo, +Health is more beneficial. But for dungeons, +Mana will generally be better since I shouldn't be taking any hits at all anyway, except for AoE damage that's meant to be healed through, as long as I don't stand in anything stupid.

On the PTR you're unable to delete a character with an heirloom item.

Not to belittle this idea, which I like and would support, but for you guys who aren't able to keep track of your heirlooms, the addon Altoholic works great for that. If i have 3 bows, two leather shoulders, i can just do a quick search and see which of my toons have what. Or browse their bank and equipment directly when not on that character. I love it.

What if Heirlooms were a special type of equipment that can be used by the Transmogrifier to put over your current clothes?
Ofcourse you find the heirloom armor in a special tab that shows all heirlooms account-wide. Transmogrify armor from heirloom armor does not only copy the looks of the armorpiece, but grants also the extra powers to it. This feature can be used from level 1. For the rest the transmogrify rules are used.

im sorry but leveling is easy enough as it is. i understand twinking and leaving it there at 19 but good luck getting a que anymore once you stop leveling but if your sole goal is to hit 85 as soon as possible the heirloom gear itself is just fine statwise if this goes thru and your enchants get deleted. i understand where you are coming from though but id rather see this in the game and loose the few hundred gold i spent on enchants.

also dont get me wrong im not flaming your post im just using it as an example i know your only askin a question.

Overall good job, but I personally dont like the green cross. I would instead prefered, all heirlooms in the game in the righthandside list, heirlooms you have not unlocked to have a gray gridlike overlay and heirlooms equiped to have a colored frame around them. I dont see the point of red signs on slots without heirlooms, but that is just a personal preference, maybe good for people who are new to heirlooms, whom dont know which slots you can fill with heirlooms.
