My first toon will be a Jedi Guardian tank. My second will be a Gunslinger DPS.

After that, I think I'll give healing a whirl on the Sith Side with a Sith Sorcerer.

It all comes down to datapoints. The more data they can get out of the players, no matter how small the forum population may be, the better they can make the game.

Really I just go to the official forums to read the dev tracker, and to participate in official polls.

As it looks right now ... there will be (as it always is) a tank and healer shortage. In the forum polls it all seems fairly balanced (25/25/50% would be perfect) but the majority of the players don't read forums. The just play along and these people play dps 90% of the time (made up number but to me it seems so). I don't have a problem with it ... i'll play tank and my wife plays a healer. We will rock flashpoints wit 2 comps :P

this will be the first game ive ever started as a dps that said im gona play a merc bounty hunter which isnt that far from the holy paladin for the healing spec

So im not moving to far away from my comfort zone anyway

i had planned to roll JK tank, or JKS for DW lightsabers, and felt that the JC was a bit like the shaman, i.e. master of all, killed by all, as you got a lot of melee/range/heal/cc options as a hybrid.

actually playing, versus having the idea of the character from the insipid character videos, is a world of difference. the worst aspect of the friday updates is that they don't show gameplay. the downside to playing in weekend beta is that i've changed my mind, i want to play one of everything, and then decide, there's just a mountain of choices that the video's don't cover.

i.e. pre-beta access, never really thought about the smuggler, hot wookie romance wasn't really on the list. plus, we don't get blizz, etc.

but a day with the IA has changed me, if SS is anything like IAO, and knowing how great IA was, it probably isn't as good on the republic side.

but then december will roll around, i'll see the companion list again, and it's back to wondering if i can't force the guild i'm in to roll sith instead. just have to keep pushing.
