Surprisingly I haven't ran into many players like that. But either way everytime I see something like this it still makes me mad.

Yeah, he was clearly semi-AFKing the run.

Semi AFK can be observed via buffs/debuffs. You don't need ACT to spot that kind of nonexistent performance.

I think I've already given my thoughts throughout the thread but in quick summary: hate it. Loathe it. Has caused me to extend my FFXIV break until the next patch.

I enjoy it, though it isn't without flaws.

The story and fast paced engagements are the highlight for me. Bozja has the sort of nuance that Stormblood needed in the Ala Mhigan side of the expansion. As for the battles, they're fun. Quick for the most part so they don't feel like 'damage sponges'. The mechanics keep people on their feet so unlike with Eureka, people can't just stand around and do nothing.

The solo duels are a bit awkward in terms of design. The people who want to seriously do them can't get in most of the time. The zone itself is also very bleak. Not necessarily a bad thing, though it doesn't feel as big or as interesting visually as Anemos did.

it's ok. next zone needs to make CEs and fates drop relic items more regularly. worst part for me is that the zone is just ugly.

I can, sort of, understand newbie tanks not getting Doton. I generally facepalm when I see tanks that pull mobs out of limit breaks.

And if you pointed out the fact he was constantly outside the boss arena, AFK or dead chances are no one else would have noticed - They'd be too busy tunnel visioning their UI to notice. Or else too scared to speak up about it. Personally I've have flagged it up as an issue with the rest of the group and if things didn't improve I'd have gone for the votekick.

Then again, I'm also not very popular precisely for doing things like that. I don't care anymore, I'm happy to be the bad guy and take the heat for it. I've had more than one conversation with a GM about why I use the votekick more than the average player and despite a brief stay in GM Jail, never had so much as a warning for it.

Honestly, I'm not anymore. The whole zone is pretty much designed to be done in a group - It's downright miserable if you're playing solo. Skirmishes just get AOEd down long before I can get enough of a contribution to get gold. The CE's are two steps backwards and one forewards in terms of getting enough mettle to rank up if you're playing solo.

Even the relic farms in Heavensward zones are next to impossible. The second a fate spawns the entire zone is there and obliterates it in seconds, usually even before I can get a tag on a mob at all. I basically struggle to get Silver when there's groups of Blue Mages finishing a fate in seconds. Twice as annoying when you're also trying to get XP to level up some jobs at the same time.

Other people are hell in this game right now.

I finally managed to get into the Aces High duel yesterday. I cheesed the crap out of it with Paladin. I recognised all the mechanics from other boss fights and other than being pushed into the pillar, there's really not much to get wrong with it. I was left pretty disapointed on the whole, considering it's the first duel I've gotten into in 2 weeks and it was a bit of a pushover.

Which is a shame. It was harder to get into that it was to complete. I really don't know why they didn't just copy the Brawlers guild though. It would have worked out so much better for everyone involved. Or better yet, just make it instanced, then everyone can get into their own private duel and go wild with it. I can appreciate however that there might be some difficulties in running an instance within an instance but it's a solution that works for everyone.

Loved it but now I'm out of things to do except the long grind for the augments. I have more memories from cluster farming than I can use. The market for the hairstyle and the mount has completely crashed so it's not really worth farming for clusters anymore (unless you like farming for an hour to sell a robot for 300k. I'd rather spend an hour doing my roulettes to get 100k gil and level up some classes and get tomestones while I'm at it). I've leveled two jobs from 71 to 80 in Bozja: Ninja and Gunbreaker.

At this point the only thing left is 1. the long grind for a complete augment set, and 2. trying to do those duels for the titles. Since doing the duels requires you to do skirmishes and critical engagements, then I guess I can level up some more jobs while I'm at it. Also mind as well farm more mettle (god forbid the next patch requires you to be like rank 20 to complete the story, but just in case...)

I'm mostly just waiting on 5.4 at this point. I'll casually work on more relic weapons, but mostly for glamour purposes. I'm hoping for another tomestone event since they usually have something to work towards and stand to be an easy source of MGP to stockpile for future MGP rewards.

God I wish I could say the same about my FC. Ladey Gags has pretty much the population of my FC to a T. I once, and I shit ye not, made a comment of "You know, I really wish these Gathering Dailies would give Scripts or some kind of reward beyond XP if you're doing them at cap", and I was whispered by the head officer or whatever the hell you want to call them that I've been "Too toxic as of late, and I should keep my negative opinions to my self". This comes off after I was joking with a few others in the FC that if the game has an asian themed expansion, it must have the four Japanese gods, and that I disliked playing Machinest, as it simply wasn't the Job for me.

People in XIV seriously are waaaaay to sensitive when it comes to any kind of criticism pointed towards their game.

A significant number of its players lurk on Twitter. Which, in many ways, is a recipe for extremism. A scary amount of thirty and forty somethings, too, who will harass and bully people half their age for the 'wrong' opinions.

It is, thankfully, more of an issue for the NA rather than EU servers though.

    Mmmhmm.

It's like I've told them numerous, numerous times over the years - I may be critical of certain aspects of XIV (such as it's dungeon and raid design, for one), but if I didn't enjoy the game, I wouldn't still be playing it. For the most part, I have enjoyed Shadowbringers. I did feel like up until Bozja, the endgame was abysmally boring, but that's more to do with XIV's overall lack of drive to shake up the game's end-game grind and inability to move away from overly safe encounter designs.

But clearly the fact that I did all of Bozja, got myself to Rank 12, did Castrum (which, by the way, fantastic raid, and is what all raids in XIV should be structured like), leveled Dancer to 80, and overall engaged in the endgame (outside of Tomestones, I haven't done any Tomestone grinding this expansion, and frankly feel like I'm having more fun now that I'm not) in pretty much all aspects.

Clearly I'm enjoying the game, but heaven forfend that I insult these people's feefees by suggesting that I dislike a particular class, or that end-game content ought to reward endgame currency. Frankly I would have tried finding another FC by now but I'm on Faerie, and they're pretty much all like this.

It's also worth mentioning that I have *never* insulted anyone for liking XIV more than I do. If XIV's gameplay loop, dungeon design, and casual friendly style is your thing, than more power to you. It just boggles the mind that some of these people think that because I'm not knee deep in love with the game over, say, WoW or PSO2, that I'm somehow a toxic person.

The official forums really are a mess these days. There's one guy with dozens of blatant troll accounts named after gay porn stars who makes dozens of bait threads/posts each day. He's been at it for months and the moderators have done nothing - despite banning people readily in the past for even daring to have a swear word in their post even if it wasn't directed at anybody else.

Oh please, stop with the BlueMage FATE whine and just play properly. Use instant, non targeted AoE and stay with the zerg. It is trivially easy to get gold on non boss mob FATEs. How do I know? I did them solo as a healer.
Yes, you won't get all FATEs in Bozja, that will also be true if you are grouped. Some of them just die way too fast if they spawn while no one was in the Area.

As for CEs: You must be really bad at mechanics. Stop dying and they give a ton of xp.

Yep, it's really weird. As if the forums have been abandoned.

I've been a major slacker on it. Ffxiv has been mostly doing my roulettes. Leveling an alt job (though when I reach 70 going in bozja hard) and playing bard instruments.

I don't hate it, but I also don't overly enjoy it. If anything I wish the memories had a better drop rate than they currently do.
