It's yet to get me noticed by Squenix, it is against their TOS afterall, but I'll never say never.

I wouldn't say they have more to them than a White Mage, just they're different to a White Mage. White Mages have stronger healing cooldowns, where the Scholar has better preventative cooldowns. They've both got about the same number of overall abilities and both can fill any healing role in a group.

As for opinions, mine are mostly negative, but that's coming from a long time player. It used to have a lot more flexability in it's damage and more specialised tools. Over time, those have been stripped away to make it something more generic. I wouldn't say it's bad, just not as good as it used to be.

It might be different for a newer player - Its got a lot of unique tools that other healers don't, has a pet and some pretty cool utility. Those might be the kind of things that appeal to you, they may not.

My suggestion would be to give it a try, see how you like it. I know that's a tame take on it, you know what you enjoy in a job more than I do.
I have been trying to level all the other classes around the same time. Low level scholar is by far the sleepiest healing experience you can have. If you want to chill and forget you are a healer then scholar has it covered! I am excited to get them higher (at 40 now) so i can see when the difference really start to shine.

Eh, not entirely. 1.0 cutscenes were mo-capped and in general a lot of resources went into the quality of the graphics. One of the problems was that it just wasn't feasible to keep that going, too much time and resources for not enough content. This is why cutscenes in 1.0 were scarce and why zones were a copy-paste fiesta.

So they went for "lower quality, higher quantity" with ARR's graphics and cutscenes, and I don't blame them for doing so at all.

at low levels you can just focus on dps. The fairy handles everything. its a bit of a running joke really how effective she can be.

Spamming it feels great. Unfortunately spamming it in Limsa is a bannable offense.

Aight, i just finished the ARR storyline and JESUS they have to tone it down with the cutscenes.
I don't mind the long cutscenes here and there, but being bombarded with them for over an hour without the ability to skip them while doing GROUP content is just waaaaaay too much.

On the plus side, i got the Magitek mech thing as mount which is cool and i finished the lvl 50 dragoon quests and now my catboy looks badass

Dont worry, they chill out a bit with the cutscenes the farther you get into the game

As was stated above, they learned their lesson with the 2.0 mega-dungeons. They are put in their own roulette away from the rest and they do not have extensive cutscenes in the middle of dungeons again. If there are cutscenes tied to a dungeon they generally come at the end once the party has disbanded.

    Haha, don't diss my Flashbang.
Though BLMs Ice III is a close runner-up in dark dungeons.

Yeah, thankfully they never repeated the mistakes of Castrum and Praetorium.

Its just SUCH a satisfying button to press. From the spinny character animation, to that 'charge up' sound and the moment it explodes in a full screen ball of light. God, its good.

Yes there will be queues in the first weeks. Just like in any other expansion before it.

They're investing like 60 million into server infrastructure and a new data center. I still expect the servers to get burdened on launch just because of the nature of the beast but they're prepping atleast.

Man seeing people raid Coil and get more views than the WoW race to world first has gotten some people extremely salty. What a strange year for mmo's this is turning out to be.

Just proves that it isn't the content as much as the people that they want to watch.

if asmon kept playing wow he'd still average around 30-50k viewers like the 3+ months before he played ff14 for the first time, now he's averaging 80-100k so obviously content matters a whole lot.

Yeah sure, your favorite person doing something new and unexpected is more interesting than him doing the same old same old.
In a few months, his views will come down to comparable levels.

I would not use these numbers in arguing which is the better game, that is just nonsensical.

Also, I'd argue that raid videos lost a lot of the glamour attached to them when Blizzard introduced difficulty modes for everyone.
It was something special to see Nihilum do Sunwell back in the day, knowing that you will most likely never get to experience the content yourself.
