GTX 460 VS Radeon 6850

Alright I finally have all of my parts for my new build, the only part I'm missing is the GPU. My budget is $160!

Which of this cards I should go with, please keep in mind that I only Play Rift, and SWTOR I will give a try!

I want to be able to play Rift at Ultra settings!

I'd recommend adding an extra $4 to your budget and getting:

XFX HD6870 ($170 with a $20 MIR for a grand total of $150)

or

Powercolor HD6870 ($20 instantly off with the product code, plus a $20 MIR, so around $140 after all is said and done)

I know you don't really play any games that require more power than the 6850/460, but it's always nicer to have power and not need it, than need it and not have it (just in case you a sweet more graphically intensive games comes out).

I haven't played Rift, but I do doubt either will achieve it. Don't take my word for it though.

The GTX460 and the HD6850 are roughly comparable. Between the two, and especially considering the price, GTX460.
The real choice should be between the GTX460 and the HD6870.

That's an unfair comparison. The 1GiB model is far and away the more common model and is also faster and have a fair bit of more overclocking headroom.

I have the Powercolor 6870 and I run Rift at Max settings (without shadows, hate those damn things) at around 90-100 fps, in shimmersand, i got up to 196 fps. just a little insight from someone who has the 6870.

Of those cards I'd definitely recommend the 460 hawk.

I would also recommend the HD6870. Used it in a build for a client who also plays Rift and he's loving his system.

I wouldn't recommend PowerColor as a brand though. I personally prefer Sapphire, XFX, Asus, or MSI.

I played RIFT on a 450 GTS 1gb, i'm sure all the above listed cards are capable. RIFTS crappy Engine is more heavy Cpu dependent.

Well I order today the i5 2500k, and I hear that is more than enough! and hopefully it is! ^_^

Yes it is and the 6850/460 is enough for Rift and you can even consider going crossfire or SLI in the future because they are amazing when you have two together.

Pci-e is completely backwards compatible.

Nice board choice (see my sig)! You'll love it.

As far as PCIe, Taek beat me to it, but yes, it's fully backwards compatible. That motherboard even supports PCIe 3.0 if you ever decide to upgrade to Ivy bridge after it's released.

I would too advise on getting the 6870. Out of the two you linked, it boils down to preference.
