had some issues with freezing so decided to to another IBT (as you can see i did it on maximum this time WOOP)
was fine tbh had no issues like i said was running at 4.6 before 100x46 what i thought was stable, then had 5 freezes (no BSOD just a lockup) during warmaster today (assume it was the CPU) so changed a few things and thought I would try a stap coverclock seems to be running fine tbh
Using the CPU strap is absolutely fine on SB-E since there is an independent clock generator for the PCIe lanes and PCH.

just got myself some new cooling so was going to do some more was just wondering if this: http://i.imgur.com/IblXz.jpg is what you want from OCCT
Somebody help me out here: I've been looking for the past half hour trying to find a definitive answer on what voltage and speed I can safely overclock the 950 to and I can't seem to find a consensus...
The most common I can find is 1.45v and 4.5GHz, but I'm not sure I wanna go that high, I'd be fine with 4.0GHz.
The x58 Extreme3 has preconfigured values in the BIOS, but I tried to use the 3.6GHz setting and my PC went into a reboot loop.
I found this guide and plan on trying it tonight, but I wanted to see what you guys thought in the meantime. I also just found this review of the Hyper 212+, they used my CPU at 4GHz, but the temps seem pretty high (averages ranging from 65C to 80C =/).

Honestly, just because someone else got 4.5GHz out of 1.45v does not mean you will, never use someone else's voltages.
I believe 1.4v on air is when you start pushing up pretty high, 1.42-1.44 is really high for air cooling, and beyond that it's optimal to have liquid cooling or the like.
This is what I learned through watching Timetolivecustoms' videos where he has tested air coolers on an i7-950, with 1.4v, 1.42v, and 1.44v, I believe. I can't remember the clock speeds, though.
I messed with it for about an hour last night - to no avail. No matter what settings I use, after I save and exit the BIOS it goes into a infinite boot loop... Won't even show me the screen to boot to the BIOS, it just starts, fans start spinning, then restarts, over and over. I have to flip the switch on the PSU to get back into the BIOS and set it to normal clock speed.
i7 2600k 4.85ghz at best, my sig has what I usually run it at although it's tuned down a little now the summer heat has finally hit.
Summer heat. Heh. Heh.
