    Computer Challenge!!

Ok, I want to know if it's possible to build a computer that can get 30 fps min in a 25 man raid with "Good" graphics enabled for about... $400.

You will not have to get a hard drive, and you can go over the $400 mark, but the cheaper the better.

Im makin this post to give you bored computer lovers something to do, and so that I can beg my parents to upgrade my 2 fps computer with a new beauty.

I have a GeForce 8400 GS DDR2 512mb PCIe 2.0 graphics card. I believe it's compatible with Win7, but not 100%. If it is, then you can use this in your builds to help you out.

Have fun with this guys. If you have any questions, just post em.. Ill check it every now and then, because i'm farming for Aeonaxx. Wish me luck!

Please list the parts in your current rig. Do you have a copy of windows 7 64bit already? Do you want a new case?
    That 8400gs won't cut it.

    Windows7 64bit = $100
    Case = $50

You can see where this is going already. If you have a few parts that are good enough to re-use you'll save some cash. Are you willing and able to put the parts together yourself?

Everything is fine except these two parts.

    1) He will *not* find that HDD for $70 anymore, at least not for a long time, try $150. Plus he has a HDD already, so he would just format it and then install Win7 to it, back up all files on said HDD first.

    2) He could probably save $20 by pulling his current CD/DVD drive out of his current PC.

Total price: $392 without shipping. If shipping goes over 400, swap out the cpu with an Intel G620.

NZXT M59 - 001BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $50
    HIS H675FS1G Radeon HD 6750 1GB $85
OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W $67 - put in the recommended promo code
    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB $25
    BIOSTAR H61MGC $50
    Intel Core i3-2100 $125
Use your existing HDD drive due to them being 200%+ marked up right now because of the Thailand flooding. The case even comes with a notebook to 3.5 adapter. $0

Yeah, forgot to change the price. I had a saved template I just changed around. Total price is the same though.

You could drop the i3 for a G620 for slightly reduced performance and save $55ish.

Yup, definitely. I linked that once since it has decent fands (with LEDs in them), a side window, and decent build quality.

Another thing to keep in mind, you could drop the 2100 and get a g620 and save 50$, then pick up a better GPU such as: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161387.

You'll see a slight hit in CPU intensive games like WoW and source based games, but you'll get a considerable performance boost in just about all others

You unfortunately missed out on yesterdays shell shocker deal on NE. They had an i3 2120 barebone system for $294. It even included a 1TB HDD. Keep watching though, it may come back again. Black Friday is coming too so you may be able to manage a pretty nice system on such a low budget if you can wait.

    Fry's has the Antec 300 case on sale for $38 with 8 MIR this week - $30 - http://www.frys.com/product/5520150?...pages%20page:6
Frys also has an i3 550 for $90 atm, which tbh isnt a bad deal if you don't mind using the older LGA1156. I wouldn't.

That same OCZ PSU at Ncix for $44 after MIR - http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=330...y&promoid=1190
    The i3 2100 $ 119.99 - http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=583...l&promoid=1368

With the little bit I just saved you, you can probably grab this video card instead:
    MSI GTX 460 Hawk 1GB - $129.99 after MIR - http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=554...r&promoid=1190
    or if that's too much,
    XFX HD 6770 1GB $99.99 after MIR - http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=610...X&promoid=1190

Keep in mind that NCIX will price match everyone, and it's free shipping on all orders over $50 and under 200lbs, so you can get everything through them if you only want to deal with one retailer. I don't think NE will do the same unfortunately, but you can check. Fry's will also price match if you live near one. Check and see if you live near a MicroCenter as well since they always have crazy deals. They sell the i3 2100 in store for $99.99.

    Best of Luck

I like that Case. It's simple, yet sturdy.
