no, the game has it's own launcher.
if you have origin installed though it will keep your game up2date even if you don't start the game.

I had to eat Origin for ME2 at some point, will it force itself open when I launch TOR?

i found that i couldn't order my swtor till i signed for origin so i would assume yes ..but your swtor log and origin log are the same(once you register the game)

NO, at NO point do you need the Origin client. Star Wars launch, patchs, and plays standalone.

The TOR Official FAQ has said for MONTHS that it won't require Origins.

Alot of people have had dealings with EA in the past, especially how they deal with MMOs, they play very dirty and trust is a molecule thin.

You need an Origin account to order digitally, but that's it.

When you make a Swtor account that is already an Origin account now, regardless you don't even need to install the client even while ordering.

Yes. You need Origin to make the purchase online, but after that everything related to the game will happen through its own launcher, which is not linked to Origin.
