Its only a matter of time before WoW falls to us.

I am having crazy amounts of fun with this game and I'm only level 14. The story is just SO GOOD (as to be expected from Bioware).

The question is whether or not this game will keep me playing once I reach level cap. Obviously there'll be lots to do with levelling one of every class on each side to experience all the stories, but that's limited. Can only wait and see what the endgame will be like. That's where the fate of SWTOR will be decided.

I have high expectations for this game, however. A very strong launch indeed.

I'm having a lot of fun with it. It's everything I hoped it would be. The queues are annoying, but I expected them.

The only bad things I have to say about the game are that, my characters dialogue lacks emotion (all bioware games i've played are like this though), disappointed about companion interaction, and crafting has been pretty dull.

There's a few things I'd like them to fix very soon.. like being able to see weapons in the Gear Previewer. But overall, it's great.

The combat, the story, the art style...are just amazing!!!

First time I got to play the game was today and I was really unsure if it was something I wanted to try before that. I'm doing 1 thru 50 grouped up with an old WoW guildie and it is just a really, really good time. Bioware does such a good job of sucking you into the story and even as a person who is generally apathetic to the SW universe I find myself wanting to know more about it than I ever did before.

A friend and I are both going Consular....me as a tank...him as a healer. First time my buddy joined a conversation by Holochat I was like "Whoa! WTF? BADASS!!!!" The quests feel important to the progression of YOUR story instead of just a way to get XP or gear or gold. I like that there is so much to learn...and that I don't know everything. I don't even know how to gear up my companions or equip a double-bladed lightsaber yet.

Also, anyone saying this is just a WoW clone is either mildly retarded or highly ignorant...because it isn't. I can see elements from every MMO I've ever played in the past in this game and TOR has done a good job of taking all the elements that worked well and augmenting them to fit in the game. Rift, EVE, WoW...they're all in there.

Bioware gets extra points for making the Consular's first companion look like one of my favorite comedians:

Cool, not one negative reaction so far I can't wait to get in, hopefully today! I'll be playing a Jedi Consular since their lore has really gotten to me already and I used to play healers in WoW

I'm sort of having fun....ish. I played sith warrior in beta and for live I switched to inquisitor. While the gameplay is fun for both, the warrior storyline was vastly superior. It doesn't help that the non-class quests are exactly the same so I already know what to expect from them. Khem so far has been a boring companion compared to Vette, but maybe he'll get better. I didn't do much crafting in beta though so now I'm playing around with that more, and it has been fun so far.

The Inquisitor companion is actually quite useful as you level. I was able to solo stuff pretty good with mine.

I remember when RIFT players said this (with a straight face) during their opening week.

I noticed that too when I was went from my Consular and then jumped on a Knight. If you don't care about spacebarring through all the non-class story quests it isn't too bad, but if you want something completely different you might want to roll with the opposite faction.

Yea, me too. Even though I think SWTOR has a lot of staying power that I never felt Rift had a prayer to obtain, I just don't like baseless "us vs them" stuff.

No, still not in the game. Don't expect to be until after xmas. THanks bioware/amazon.

Server technology being as it is today, the servers they are running will not all be physical boxes. They will be running multiple instances of virtual servers on each physical server.

Why am I telling you this ? Because it means that they will be able to add and remove virtual servers at will, in very short timescales, without buying or removing any physical servers.

In short, they can cater to demand rapidly, as it rises and falls.

Yes, it is, because it essentially gives you your own "tank" as an assistant.

Where the first companion is not so useful, is with the Jedi Knight or Sith Warrior class, that even before they specialise in their advanced classes, are essentially tank like in nature.

I can understand that. I think you will find the experience with this game and it's leveling to not even feel like leveling at all. Which has led me to not even think about end game stuff...lol.

    So much fun

Only thing that feels strange is that you do not want to talk to your mates in TS3 anymore because you are so sucked in the different stories ^^

I played rift for a while and thought it was a good game, and my understanding is it's doing just fine. A lot of people did say that though, lol.

Why people have this obsession with whether a game will be a "WoW killer" or not is actually a fairly straightforward psychological issue.

Man as a race, is essentially tribal and takes comfort in being in his own tribe with like minded individuals that are also part of the tribe. Anything that challenges the status quo of that tribe, is seen as a threat to what people are comfortable with and what they know. The normal human reaction to such a threat is hostility and defence of the existing tribe.

So it is the same with WoW. The diehard WoW player sees anything that is not part of the "WoW tribe" as a threat, especially if their tribe members might leave to join a new tribe such as the "SWTOR tribe". They therefore express views that the new tribe is awful and that people shouldn't go there and that they would be much better staying in their old tribe. The people leaving the WoW tribe, of course are attracted to the new SWTOR tribe, because they think it may have better opportunities than their old tribe. Again, this is just part of normal human behaviour.

The fact is, it is possible for both "tribes" to co-exist, unless at some point, the attractions of one tribe are so great, that everyone joins that tribe, and then the cycle begins all over again as soon as a new tribe shows up.

In short the polarisation that occurs about whose tribe is best, is just normal, human, tribal behaviour, and should be regarded in that light.

So much fun that hours seem to pass by like mins. You'll loss track of how long you have been playing and will have to make yourself log off for the night while knowing as soon as you can you'll be back to playing.
