I have recently graduated from college and have figured that it's time for me to build my first computer. I am going to be using this computer as my main gaming and general purpose computer. I have a 32in LCD tv to use as a monitor so it has to have either component or hdmi (preferred) output. I want to be able to run SWTOR and several upcoming games on HIGH with about 50-60 FPS avg. All for around $500 US. I want to be able to pick these components up at my local Fry's Electronics for various customer service needs.
What would you recommend for me take an inexpensive tower bundle and just add parts I want, or to build from scratch? If the former what computer do you suggest me getting and what components to replace? If the latter what components do you suggest me getting?
The problem I see is that certain games will simply not run well on a $500 computer at high settings (1080p resolution), especially if you need a Windows license as well (~$100). My 550 build will most certainly handle new titles well, but I don't think it will manage titles like Battlefield 3, Wither 2 and Crysis 2 at high settings with such good framerates.
