Extreme lag

Hi!
I just started playing the beta all excited, but when i took one step it lagged abit. I thought that was quite normal since games tend to lag the first time you start them. Then when i attacked my first mob my game froze for 10 seconds on my first attack, and every other attack after that. Now the game is almost unplayable, i can barely move.
Am i the only one experiencing this and is there a fix? (Yes i have tried turning off the sound).

What are your system specs? I've seen a few uploaded videos on youtube behaving how you've described.
